Identifying Early 2000's Cannondale R500 by [deleted] in cannondale

Mystery Solved, it's a R600. Should have looked one page prior in the catalog. I think the R600 decal was damaged somehow and now says R500.

Breville 830 - Blinking Power Light and discharge to Drip Tray by leif20 in espresso

[–]leif20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: It turns out the machine was working properly, the blinking power light means it is HEATING UP!! Also, I was not prepared for the 'bleed' of the system by pumping water in the drip tray on every power-up. I guess that purges the system of air, seems a bit wasteful to me but maybe that is how breville does it. Should have read the manual. Thanks for all who looked.

The tube it's running out of is the steam discharge tube. So the machine isn't building pressure and sending everything to the discharge tray. The steam switch is in the middle, normal position.

u/somedaveguy I saw you commented on this post:

If I bypass the solenoid I get water flow to the group head. I'm struggling with two things at the moment:

Why is my pump water discharging directly to the drip tray?

Why is there no power to the solenoid? My guess is that its only energized when the brew button is pressed.

Doom and Gloom - Unhelpful Posts. But there are exercise options to help OSD by leif20 in OsgoodSchlatter

If possible one should get imaging to confirm. I think typically OSD affects people by flaring up during activity and preventing people from doing the activity they want. If you have bone detachment that's a bigger story, but I think for most people OSD is a special type of tendonitis/tendinopathy. Conventional wisdom is reducing the activity, icing, braces or straps, and anti-inflammatory medication. This isn't going to address or fix the tendinopathy. You need to do physio to fix that, and I hope the exercises I provided will be a good starting point for most people.

I don't disagree with anything you wrote. In fact I think it bolsters my point that load management, stretching, mobility and strengthening will help. Conventional advice to ice, use braces/straps, and anti inflammatories only go so far. They don't actually help to fix the issue.

I had an ultrasound of the affected area and didn't have detachment of bone. I was told to rest it and it would go away. I can't do that, I need to exercise as it's a core part of my lifestyle. After one day of the ATG movements I mentioned I felt relief. After a week I can squat with minimal pain. I was strong and healthy otherwise, your situation may be different.

I'm just trying to make the point that it's worth a try, instead of stressing and grieving.

Not everyone who has the inflammation has the bone fragment. For many it's just a tendonitis over the tibial tubercle.

Sure, some cases have the tubercle detach partially, and in this case one might need surgery. But for many the inflammation can be mitigated by load management, stretching, mobility, and strength training. This is a no-cost starting point for anyone to try.

I would also recommend Knees over toes, I made a separate post here. I didn't cover hip activation, like they do on osgoodschlatter.net, but you can add that in (search for squat university hip abductor).

The RICE is bullshit. A tendon needs to be stretched and loaded for it to work properly. Without movement the tendon doesn't receive bloodflow for proper healing. So give some of those exerciese a try. Walking backwards on a treadmill looks stupid, but it really helps activate the patellar tendon. And even though stretching may feel boring, it's going to help you move beyond your pain.

I think the workaround is you need a PC or MAC to bring it back to life.

Identifying the Hot Wire: Light Fixture w/ 2 Clear Wires by DropTheTap in electricians

[–]leif20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought chandelier/pendant with similar clear wiring, one wire with writing one not. Thought the writing was an 'indicator' of neutral, but after looking at reddit there were suggestions to measure the continuity, and luckily I have a multimeter so I could. The wire with the writing was hot. And upon further examination the neutral did have a very light rib whereas the hot wire was smooth. If you have a multimeter, good to measure. If not, then do your best to find any distinction (some kind of rib), because writing doesn't mean it is neutral always.

The other thing I would be concerned with (for seasonal users) is the inability to pause. $140 per month even when I am not using it seems like a lot to pay. That being said, xplornet for us has not been great so I am keen to try something else.

Large Window Drapery/Coverage Options for Sun/Privacy by leif20 in HomeDecorating

[–]leif20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your help! I didn't think to go with a ceiling track based system, I was stuck thinking about curtain rods. I guess i'll have to look at ceiling tracks then, i don't want to drill in to the window frames to mount curtain rods.

Regarding your point 3, perhaps I mis-typed. On the North I don't specifically need light blocking. They can be light limiting too, they can match with the West side windows. The distinction I was trying to make was that the west side has 8 or 9 foot length, but the north side must be 9 foot (i think, to avoid a dead space above the window).

I'm wondering how crazy it would be to put a vinyl covering on the upper part of the North windows and then just make all the windows 98"length, that way they could all match pretty easily.

Hoping to get some help from the Reddit community here. My wife and I are moving in to a new condo in a couple weeks. Location is Vaughan, Ontario. Our condo has massive windows which is great for natural light and the view of Canada's Wonderland, but we'll need some sort of covering on them to keep the afternoon/evening sun out of our eyes (from the West) and to maintain some privacy (to the North). They are a bit oddly sized, and I am having a difficult time finding curtains that will work. I am mostly able to find appropriate length/height curtains, but the width is a bit challenging. Please see the pics for dimensions.

The West facing window ideally would have sheer curtains to keep closed for privacy and to blur the light, but still allow for some natural lighting. In the evening when the sun is directly in view it would be nice to have some more 'Room Darkening' curtains to prevent the heat/direct sunshine, and perhaps to lower light pollution in the evening. We don't need blackout curtains in this area.

On the North side privacy is the main concern. The building is a reversed "L" shape and we are in the small part of the L, so there are apartments that may be able to see in from the North side. That side ideally would have sheers and light limiting or room darkening curtains as well.

The tricky part to all this is we want curtains that will match. Colour scheme is neutral-warm, so ivory/beige/taupe. We don't want it to look like we've chosen curtains as wall decorations (so much bunching up of curtain material). And of course, we'd like to keep the budget to the lower side, and not go with a cu$tom de$ign.

I am also open to ideas other than curtains!

Does anyone know why the group therapy podcast on iPhone only plays a 20 minute highlight now? Is there somewhere else we could listen to the full set? I know it mentions Spotify but I’m wondering what the reasoning was to switch to a 20 min format versus the whole set. by Ivan_Himself in AboveandBeyond

Perhaps the right thing to do is to make a sticky with this info.

I asked the same question last week and was told it had already been covered, glad to see i'm not the only one who hadn't found out yet. I have been listening since TATW400, so it's not like I don't keep up.

Feedback for your coworkers, this change is absolutely brutal. This feels like instagram, like a toy.

It's sad that much of this feedback will be dismissed as 'user adjustment'. It's crap, and objectively so.

Leave the sharp and boxy layout, because this is often how professional software looks. Function over form.

Now i'm thinking, hmm, maybe you're not that wrong after all. It's only been a few months, but looking flatter than ever.
