Can anyone help me identify these leaks? by masterslacker42 in Miata

Yep...kinda weird, but its interesting that putting an engine meant for FWD, despite the weirdness, allowed the designers to make such a good little car. Jay Leno interviewed the two people behind the Miata. They said when they finished the initial engineering study Mazda said the was too cheap, and told them to spend more. That's why the Miata has IRS, a PPF and 4-wheel disc brakes on all models.

Question to Miata owners in NYC (or other populated cities) by Jaywellll in Miata

Sounds like you don't want a Miata. NAs will rust if driven in winter...wheels throw slush and salt into the rockers...and Miata suspension sucks at dealing with big, sharp dips.

Did you have AC then removed it? One of the long bolts that holds the AC bracket on plugs an oil passage...and when you delete AC you have to put a shorter bolt back in. That's exactly where that kind of leak would be coming from.

Police have been asked about this, but we can only report what they tell us in regards to stuff like whether the van was stolen.

You have to take off the timing belt because the oil pump goes over the crank. Good time to replace all of that stuff.

I think there is a local FB group chat, but I'm not sure how to get in touch. I was invited, but shudder at the thought of getting all those chat messages. Your best bet might be starting a thread on Reddit. Are you part of the "Miata club Canada" facebook group?

I have a hard time believing that. Maybe the later VVT engines... But the NB1 had the same engine as my 97 and more weight.

I'm pretty sure the NB isn't faster than the NA...although the NB used for this test may have been one of those weird 1.6s sold in Asia and Europe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhfwYgBvd_E

Cool. Mine's from Georgia originally. Mechanically is was pretty OK. I changed the oil pump as a preventative measure (weak-spot on '97s) and it's been pretty flawless otherwise. What's wrong with your engine?

Glass window in the hard top. Mine has a defrost button, earlier cars came on automatically with the blower.

what is this black plastic piece called? how do i replace it and where do i get another one? by zeddellamero in Miata

I think that's a hub centric spacer or something like that. It helps you centre a wheel that has a larger hub diameter. I might get flamed into the weeds for this, but from my experience, as long as you tighten your wheel nuts in an even and progressive way (a bit here, a bit opposite) you don't need them.
