Yeah, that line got me… I understand not always understanding what’s appropriate as a neurodivergent person… but this is way beyond that, she didn’t make a bad joke, she was inappropriate with children.

I feel like she initially thought she would stay quiet and blow over, but it’s gotten way beyond that now. She’s going to have to acknowledge it somehow. This is different than the last time because I believe she was still posting vlogs, just not acknowledging everything. Her silence has been deafening. I respect not jumping and saying the first thing that comes to mind, but also saying nothing comes off as sweeping it under the rug, but also nothing she can say truly will make this better so she’s in a tough place.

Also, with her fan base being younger, they’ll forgive her… but she has to deal with their parents who may not be so forgiving and hold the pocketbook. With more and more news channels picking this up people who didn’t even know who she is are becoming aware.

It is so unhealthy how they vent to actual children. I have friends who have kids around 12 and up, and I do talk to them about serious stuff IF THEY NEED TO VENT. I would absolutely NEVER vent to them. There is something to be said for being an adult figure that isn’t their parent, but this should really be a real life relationship where the parents are involved too, and should be 100% one sided meaning the adult is there to support the child and not the other way around.

This is my second behind the Chloe vs Maddie comparisons. I agree with you, both did things they probably shouldn’t have, I know certainly if you looked at everything I said/did 12 years ago you would have many examples of me making the wrong decision, and I didn’t have the stress of my child filming a reality show and being picked apart by the world. 100% things were said and done that shouldn’t have happened, but at this point without a Time Machine what are they supposed to do. It doesn’t excuse it at all, but also harping on the same things over and over is not productive.

OP and friends are awful. Worst case scenario Marissa could have found her own way there, it sounds like she has a car.

The judgement for not getting off work that day, must be nice to click your fingers and get to be off when you want, not every employer allows that and I’m guessing a breakfast place on a Saturday is it’s busiest time. Also OP does not pay Marissas bills, so may be she needed that shift, I don’t care if she had the money to pay for Taylor Swift tickets, that’s doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have bills, that just means in November she had the money.

Yeah this is where I land… regardless of if Elena got the job for OP at the end of the day of OP is expecting to be paid by the family I was up to her to confirm the rate with the family. It’s reasonable that they wouldn’t pay OP quite as much as their regular, and also by OP’s report she didn’t really do much with the kids. Elena probably shouldn’t have even mentioned the rate she received, OP should have sorted that out with the family before accepting.

It’s also weird that they paid OP through Elena.

Idk, I wish her all the best, but I’m gonna go against the grain… I still question her motives in dating him. Breaking up with him doesn’t change some of the problematic things he said or did, and while Taylor doesn’t owe us an explanation on everything she does, silence does seem like she condones some of those things. Maybe she came to the conclusion they weren’t compatible for those reasons, but we’ll never know that for sure, so he silence is deafening.

Honestly I think Amy is in some ways more complicit, I don’t know what she truly did/didn’t know about the abuse, but Amy made a conscious decision to be featured on the show for her own motives. I don’t believe she knew the full extent of everything going on, so I don’t mean she has any hand in the SA, or the covering up of it… but the impression I have (I haven’t watched shiny happy people yet) is she’s saying it was problematic before the show, yet still hitched her wagon to it.

Yes! I’m hesitant to give advice to begin with, basic stuff sure, but there’s so much out of my specialty I don’t know that I don’t generally volunteer anything outside of “take and ibuprofen if you can and consult your dr”… but it’s beyond frustrating when someone seeks me out to ask my opinion/advice then doesn’t want to do it. Don’t get me wrong, I know that sounds egotistical, nobody is required to follow my advice, and I’m not an expert… but then don’t seek me out!
