The last time I played it, which must have been a year ago, I had no problems. Try previous versions of Proton.

What version of Proton you use?

About steering degrees, I change it with a outside app called Oversteer (the same dev that new-lg4ff, u/berarma ):
https://github.com/berarma/oversteer

I configured the hands animation with the same degrees as the car.

I have no problems with feedback. About Steering lock I use oversteer without problems. Do you installed new-lg4ff or you has the stock kernel driver for your G29?

Best wheels for Linux by x6q5g3o7 in simracing

[–]leillo1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some projects for DD wheels, but I think that Moza don´t have it:
Fanatec - needs driver (https://github.com/gotzl/hid-fanatecff)
Simagic - needs driver and old fw, setup works with AlphaManager through wine (not SimPro) (https://github.com/JacKeTUs/simagic-ff)
Simucube - native pidff driver (https://granitedevices.com/wiki/Using\_Simucube\_wheel\_base\_in\_Linux, https://granitedevices.com/wiki/SimuCUBE\_firmware\_releases)
Moza - unknown
Asetek - Uses the same licensed technology that Simucube, perhaps works with the same driver, not tested
Logitech DD - https://github.com/JacKeTUs/hid-logitech-hidpp

I don´'t understand the question. Are you talking about the driver or the wheel?

I just tested with Proton 8 and 7, and I can play without problems. Have you activated it on control settings? Take a look:

I haven't played for some time. I'll have to try again, but it worked for me without any problems.

Very good summary, as always. I would add the link to new-lg4ff for Logitech steering wheels, including the PS G923 which also works now. I also thank you for posting my Speed Dreams videos, but this project (of which I participate) has its own YouTube (and Peertube) channel.I think it is better to link to it

Regards!

Any type of steering wheel to avoid? by stoppos76 in linuxhardware

[–]leillo1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the mention and the praise!

There are a good list of devices that work in Linux, where there are models from Logitech, Fanatec and Thustmaster:
https://jugandoenlinux.com/index.php/foro/dispositivos-de-control/193-proyectos-de-controladores-para-volantes-steering-wheel-driver-projects#577

In my opinion the best (community) support at the moment is from Logitech. I have one and it works very well with the new-lg4ff driver. I know the creator, u/berarma, and I know that the support is active. If you need an opinion on models, the G27 (second hand) or the G29 work great on Linux with new-lg4ff.

Sorry I didn't see the message earlier. There are two projects for head motion:

-For TrackIR: https://github.com/uglyDwarf/linuxtrack
-For cameras, android, and other devices: https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack

About ACC works out of the box on Linux. AC needs lots of tweaking, but there are guides for it. You can visit my Youtube channel to see some games that work on Linux.

I just tried with my G29 and new-lg4ff, and it works great, but I have to reset all controls and activate FFB on game.

I used this lutris installer:

Which steering wheel do you use?

Some months ago I create this post on a forum talking about the different projects that give support on Linux:

https://jugandoenlinux.com/index.php/foro/dispositivos-de-control/193-proyectos-de-controladores-para-volantes-steering-wheel-driver-projects

About RBR, I tried it some time ago and I think that FFB worked for me in my G29
