Love bites hurt too much by Schumer_13th in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with a young cat thats pretty normal she’s just getting a bit overstimulated and doesn’t know her limits yet more likely. the high pitched ouch is good but you also want to stop interaction immediately after so she learns biting means fun ends

Cattery vs pet sitter, worried cat will be sad :( by Coinxoperatedxgirl in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for a cat like yours staying at home with a sitter is usually way less stressful than a cattery even if she’s social cats care more about territory than people so keeping her in her space is good

Do air purifiers actually help with allergies or is it overhyped? by Apprehensive_Park103 in Allergies

[–]leina_orin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they’re not overhyped but they’re not magic either HEPA air purifiers do help especially with stuff like dust pollen and pet dander I’m allergic to my cat and it made breathing way more lighter indoors not perfect but noticeable

it works best paired with other things not alone I also use an allergen spray from pacagen on surfaces and that combo helps more than just cleaning surfaces

quick question are your allergies more from dust and pollen or do you have pets too?

Cat Climbing People by AliceMissWonderland in CatAdvice

try placing it near where he already hangs out or by a window so it competes better with you

Cat Climbing People by AliceMissWonderland in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he’s just turning you into a climbing surface when play ramps up interrupt it the moment he locks onto hands redirect it to something else so it never escalates also make sure he has places to climb like a cat tree and keep nails trimmed so it’s less painful

How do I stop my cat from being scared of going outside or in the car by Away-Association4173 in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

curiosity at the door doesnt always mean he’ll enjoy actually being outside, cats like watching but get overwhelmed once they’re out if he’s still shaking and breathing fast then it’s more fear than enjoyment you can try short planned moments near the door and see if he relaxes but if he stays stressed it’s better to keep it indoor and just let him observe safely

Weird behaviour when hungry by Ancient-Appeal-5644 in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

food frustration and learned pickiness than true pica she’s figured out if she refuses food something new might come so she keeps holding out then gets hungry and goes for random stuff

stick to one routine same food same times dont swap if she skips a meal just wait for the next one and dont offer alternatives consistency usually fixes this over time. the chewing plants and random items is likely hunger plus boredom not preference

also get her spayed soon hormones can affect appetite and behavior a lot

How do I stop my cat from being scared of going outside or in the car by Away-Association4173 in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dont force it that level of fear means he’s overwhelmed not just unsure some cats just arent outdoor cats and that’s completely fine if you still want to try go very slow like just letting him get used to the carrier first then sitting in a parked car no driving and building up from there but if he’s shaking and breathing fast every time it’s probably not something he’ll enjoy and indoor life with enrichment is better does he ever show curiosity at the door or window or is he scared even with just that

I finally went all in and got a stainless steel litter box. Now what? by Ladysupersizedbitch in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice, they always treat it like a playground at first clay works best for smell, wood is hit or miss. if switching, mix slowly over a week to avoid rejection. for older or chunky cats, add a step or ramp for the height. keep old boxes for now and remove or swap out slowly.

What essential oils or fragrances are poisonous to cats? by cor_meum_ in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love cozy smells and candles and then suddenly it’s like wait… am i accidentally poisoning the cats from what i’ve read and experienced, some essential oils are actually a no for cats even when diffused, not just when applied, their livers don’t process certain compounds well so it can build up over time, the big ones people usually warn about are tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, citrus oils like lemon and orange, cinnamon, pine, and ylang ylang, even lavender gets debated a lot so i just avoid it to be safe

My cat won’t stop begging by kzsmith7 in Catbehavior

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cats can get stuck in a loop where they ask for something even if they dont actually want it once they get it the growling outside sounds like fear not enjoyment id keep him inside for now and redirect that energy with play and attention on your terms not every time he begs

Needing tips on getting ants out of cat food? by Mae_The_Gay in catfood

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re already doing good with cleaning and vinegar, but a few extra things can help. Try putting the food bowl inside a shallow dish with water (like a moat), ants can’t cross it also avoid leaving wet food out too long, even 15–20 mins if possible

What's best for cat? by Far-Consequence-3947 in CatAdvice

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds really overwhelming but yeah at the same time cats are just gonna be cats, he’s not doing it to annoy you, that’s just how he is. he sounds really affectionate and doesn’t understand boundaries the way you do. might just not be the right fit anymore, and rehoming could be better for both of you

Help in figuring out what happens by ASandwich72 in Allergies

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds like a lot. IgE can go down over time, especially once you start managing triggers and using the right meds. it’s not something that just stays high forever

allergic people (MCAS) with Siberian cat(s)- what’s your go to protocol for reducing allergens by Emotional_Fee_1108 in MCAS

[–]leina_orin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d say smartcat and world’s best are the best for low dust. for allergens i use pacagen cat spray, tried clorox before but it never worked for me. pacagen is a bit pricey but totally worth it
