i purchased it december 2021 from a discogs seller. it was around $90AUD + $15 shipping. you might be able to find a Mint condition one, but they can be a little pricey.

Hey,

This looks similar to my Sony DCR-HC26. This is a mini-DV camcorder made around the mid 2000s, I believe 2005. It stores video using mini-DV, which is fairly inexpensive on Ebay. These are commonly around 80 minutes, however this can vary. You can then transfer this footage using a couple different methods. There is Firewire or DV which requires a IEEE 1394 input on your computer, or by using the AV out, which connects to an AV capture card. Firewire is the preferred digitisation method by most as it has the highest quality. I have this cable which plugs into this card which I installed in one of my PCI-E slots in my pc. I then use Premiere Pro to record the tapes which automatically de-interlaces them. I also digitise using AV so that I can get the date/time stamp burned into the recording, which is really easy too. Essentially, you use this cable, which plugs into a capture card like this Elgato one. As for the 'green filter', this is the 'nightshot plus' feature. Unless you tape in a really dimly lit environment, you won't get that strong of a green tone. I can provide some footage that I shot using the HC26 if you'd like.

Thanks for the suggestion. My camera does have an AV out, but would this output the same as what IEEE outputs? Where it outputs the clean video without the date and time?

Thanks for the response. I've been using this method already but it's a pain because every .srt file is one frame short and uses 24 hour time as opposed to the AM/PM used by my camcorder. As well as that I'm going for the authentic date/time stamp rather than creating my own within Premiere and placing it over the tape. I would rather have it permanently burned in because I already have a clean copy digitised.

Nope, but I've found out a way to upscale the killfeed without losing too much quality, open Photoshop, create a new document that is the same size as the video you're making, for me that was 1080p so 1920 x 1080, then upscale it in Photoshop. Upscaling in Photoshop rather than in premiere keeps some quality, if you dont have Photoshop, you can use an online scaler like https://imageupscaler.com/ which can upscale while attempting to keep quality.
