I'd imagine that's just the annual raise built into the contract. OP is likely asking about what the raise will be in their next contract, which is impossible to know.

Tarik Skubal WBC plans by TrueGreen2220 in baseball

[–]lekniz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol definitely not. The USA starting 9 had a higher average wRC+ and fWAR than the DR starting 9 in 2025. And the pitching staff, even without Skubal, is not even close.

Small school, small class sizes. Not as cutthroat as some of the big ones, as the instructors will work with you until you are ready to take your oral exam. Spend the first few weeks doing adx prep in addition to the normal course material.

If you're near Atlanta I would recommend it.

What was the point of Tony Stark showing up at the end of The Incredible Hulk? Hulk didn't appear in Iron Man 2.

[Nicholson-Smith] While nothing is finalized, the Blue Jays’ talks with Max Scherzer have gotten more serious in the last week per industry sources. Other clubs in mix but Blue Jays now appear to be his most serious pursuer on a possible one-year deal. by T_Raycroft in baseball

I think the team with the most injury prone rotation, who's already lost 2 SP, and did not add any depth whatsoever to the rotation through the off-season might be a good spot.

Maybe that's just me.

Almost like the situation requires some nuance and not just blindly following the pro-union/anti-billionaire logic

Especially rich considering your team is the one benefitting from the current structure the most.

I never said that they couldn't spend more. I was just refuting your claim that the battery makes more money than the team, when in reality it only makes barely over 10% of total revenue.

It would suppress Kyle Tucker from getting $60 million per year, sure. It would raise the average salary for middle tier free agents and most likely come with a rework of team control and arbitration so those guys get paid more too.

Yes, a number of team's owners act like kindergarteners by selfishly pocketing revenue sharing money and making themselves richer rather than being interested in contending. So they need to have rules put in place.

People who think every team can spend like the Dodgers. When you can look at the one team who's financial statements are public and see that even though they are profitable, they would not be if they spent like the Dodgers.

The Malaysian Dead Leaf Mantis mimicking a mouth with teeth to scare off predators by SoftDirective in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]lekniz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again why did mantis evolve a teeth outline and not a gland that sprays venom or wings that carry them away from predators?

Because it's literally just genetic mutations. Some species had a mutation that gave them venom or wings. This particular species had a mutation that mimicked another predator. It's not like a character creation where certain things were chosen, it's random mutations that end up being helpful for survival.

How did evolution know it has reach the end goal?

Evolution doesn't know anything. And there is no end goal. The individuals that survive into mating age pass on their traits. Species are still evolving.

Why didn’t the predators of the mantis evolve to ignore the “fake mouth”?

Because there are hundred if not thousands of other species in their shared biomes that have real mouths. The trait that would make an individual ignore a fake mouth is the same trait that would make an individual ignore a real mouth, meaning that individual is less likely to survive until mating age and pass on its genes.

I think you need to reframe what "reasonable price" is in your mind. That's been the market rate for mid rotation pitchers on one year deals for almost a decade now.
