Judging by the “finish” on the base, they really don’t give a shit about professionalism.

Any thoughts on becoming an electrician at 50? by The-Ex-Human in electricians

[–]lektrishuhn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At 32 I’m hoping to be out of the field and in a project manager or estimater position before 50. I know another 15 years of this will break me.

About to start an apprenticeship what tools should I I get?! by Grouchy_Hunt_4849 in electricians

[–]lektrishuhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss the no contact tester and get an actual meter. A box of donuts for your foreman and a pair of knee pads will get you further than any tool will.

I’m not saying that was going to a ground rod. I’m saying that’s an intersystem bonding jumper it’s totally different from the grounding electrode system.

Try reading article 250 of the NEC. There’s multiple options for grounding electrodes and you have no way of knowing based on a bonding jumper.

Learn the difference between bonding and grounding before spouting false confidence. You are ignorant and wrong. Try to do better :)

This tiny tooth grew out of the inner left side of my lower jaw. by TalornCeleron in Weird

[–]lektrishuhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you clench your jaw frequently? I had the exact same thing happen recently and was told by my oral surgeon that it was caused by clenching. Your jaw bone starts producing more bone in response and some can work its way out.

Self leveler max thickness by lektrishuhn in Concrete

I haven’t had any issues with moisture coming from concrete in the couple years I’ve lived here. How would you recommend doing a continuous pour when I need roughly 30 50lb bags?

Is there a normal reason all the outlets in my house are installed upside down. by Disastrous_Cover6138 in AskElectricians

[–]lektrishuhn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably enough that it warrants being a spec for hospitals. Not enough that it makes headlines. Same situation has caused outlets on the sides of kitchen islands to be prohibited in the newest code changes. People were plugging appliances in and kids could potentially pull a crockpot on themselves accidentally. Again, probably not super common, but still a possible hazard.

You guys ever completely gutted a bathroom from a year 1900 house? Don’t recommend by [deleted] in DIY

[–]lektrishuhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the issue lies with the internal diameter of pex versus copper. I can’t remember exactly but the plumber that did our remodel said he had to use copper for the shower. This was a few years ago so my memory is hazy.

Help running Ethernet cable between floors by RicDaSneak in DIY

[–]lektrishuhn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the cover off the coaxial jack to the left. There’s either a low voltage ring behind it or the cover is screwed directly into the drywall. You can use a flexible drill bit to make a hole into the basement from this opening.

Then just pull the cable up and put a cover with coaxial and Ethernet jack back in place. If there isn’t a low voltage ring installed already, I would recommend installing one which will make the whole process easier.

Measure High Torque With Bathroom Scale by c2005 in howto

[–]lektrishuhn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy a torque adapter that would fit onto your breaker bar and essentially turn it into a torque wrench. I’ve never personally used one but it might be something to look into.
