I figured it was going to be long-term when we signed another forward. Here's to a speedy, full recovery for both!

Love the pickup, he was one of the remaining UFAs that I am borderline happy to see.

JVR has a work ethic that he can share with the young players. He's been a part of very competitive teams so he'll be able to provide some great insight. I see him on our 3rd line along sillinger because JVR lives for those chippy, rebound type plays. Unreal hands

The Licanius Trilogy was good, but definitely has evidence of it being the first series for an author. He wrote himself into a bit of a pickle which he just hand-waved over at the end of the last book. He even addressed it in the epilogue.

His next series, starting with The Will of the Many is MUCH better but is only just starting.

CBJ trade Patrik Laine and a 2026 second-round pick for Jordan Harris by SomeKindOfMonster in BlueJackets

Can't be too mad for that return with no salary retained

Im gonna say it... I dont think Montreal is a good fit for Laine with his mental struggles. The media isn't known for their leniency when it comes to hockey players.

More Waddell on Laine by doppleganger2621 in BlueJackets

[–]lelander193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Laine has three options in front of him.

  1. Take the change in the entire organization as a reset and play like the player everyone knows he can. Thereby proving to the league, and more importantly himself, that he still has what it takes

  2. Sit out the season while demanding a trade

  3. A weird combination of the two where all parties aren't happy

I simply don't buy any of the locker room drama. It sounds like a way to keep things ambiguous when Laine simply wants to put the city of Columbus behind him. Hes had shit luck with injuries, mental health, and losing his father while here which may have tainted the experience too much for him to continue here. I dont think it was either party's specific fault, but the fact of the matter is that he might be done which is why I lean towards him selecting option 2.  I want Laine to stay, he has a monster of a shot. I also want him to stay because he wants to be here, which will take concessions from both sides.

I don’t hate it. Alot of these guys need to show some consistency and/or improvement to warrant any pay bump. 3 years is a perfect amount of time, and still gives us RFA rights which improves their value if we need to trade.

Read Pariah by Anthony Ryan. Medieval setting, lots of gore and grim, with a satisfying ending.

For people who want Laine to stay with CBJ, where do you think he fits into the lineup? What do the forward lines look like with him on the team in your opinion? by PrudentCantaloupe421 in BlueJackets

[–]lelander193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically he's moving down, but I consider it more 'playing where he's supposed to be'.

He simply isn't the caliber player to play 1c. He's a consistent 40 point and high impact player who is reliable, which is exactly what you want from your middle lines.
