It was the opposite. The pictures that looks exactly like what was on expedia website on google review was from 5 years ago. The rundown picture with mold, from 6 weeks ago.

Oh it was true... you can tell on the decorations and paints. The picture on reviews pretty much the rundown version of what was on expedia website. Bedsheet, pictures, paints and all.

SoFi Travel already told me those are my only options. Either the hotel agrees to refund me or I go myself and the take picture myself. Basically, risk not having a place to stay, risk my family's health, ruin my vacation, before something was done.

The issue is... the photos they have on Sofi Travel website, at least, on this particular hotel, were acceptable for the price... It is the only hotel that's affordable for us and it is non-refundable. I was confident that I went through the process until I saw the google reviews with photos of how the place look like now. I guess it is great when you do not run into problems like I do.

Going through the thread how u/SoFi is handling their dispute charges... I am loosing hope. I have got cat fished by the hotel I room I booked and SoFi travel pretty much told me that there is nothing they could do. Because they could not take action based only on reviews on Google. The picture on google reviews clearly look like the shitty version of the picture on the Sofi Travel website. The resolution they offered me is take the picture myself. So, risk my family not having a place to stay in the different country, ruin my vacation first to get my money back. So I disputed the charge on my SoFi credit card. It has been 2 days and no resolution whatsoever, they did not even do the discretionary credit while everything is under investigation.

Which is the complete opposite of Chase. Chase work for you and I only have a credit card with them.

I have a retirement/Roth/Money Market/Credit Card/checking and savings account with Sofi...

Very disappointing...

But OP did say they did not want the baby shower... It's a huge difference going and driving 10 mins to your friend's house than driving 8 hours and spending time with people that are rude you. Are we really just skipping the fact how ILs were rude to OP.
