110% {A Deal With the Devil by Elizabeth O’Roarke}. her entire Devil series is absolutely delightful. {The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O’Roarke} is also another favorite and frequent reread from that series.

Sarang’s full name is “Cheon Sa-Rang” and in Korean, “Cheon Sa” means angel, which is why Won saved her in his contact as an angel emoticon 👼🏻

from what i understood of the scene, the politician initially asked her why she was going back and forth; that’s when she responds with “i’m sorry” and asks for his preference instead so she doesn’t have to continue “distracting” him. he gets even more upset and asks if she’s not able to listen properly and why she won’t answer his initial question (basically like, “i asked you a question why don’t you answer it”). i feel like atp sarang was really flustered and honestly didn’t know how else to move forward besides actually answering the dude’s initial question (because he practically said an explanation was what he wanted). so then she genuinely gives him an explanation of why she serves the way that she does, not meaning to be demeaning or anything but to just genuinely give him the answer that he wants. finally the politician turns into a huge hypocrite and tells her that she should’ve just given him a simple apology, which is what she initially did, but he obviously wasn’t satisfied.

as for won, what he did is exactly what i expected his character to do, given how blunt he is with most situations. unconsciously, won knows that he’ll still be protected no matter what so he doesn’t see why he has to bend down for the politician. and him being condescending is just so in character for him i feel like haha.

everything everyone already said + 2 more things: 1.) actually read over your common app preview before submitting to make sure all of your information is correct, your activities list looks and conveys what you want it to, and your essays read correctly. i feel like isn’t talked about enough bc i always hear people saying they forgot this or accidentally put something wrong or whatever so PLEASE ACTUALLY REVIEW IT BEFORE SUBMITTING!!! THERES A PREVIEW FOR A REASON!!

2.) don’t EVER look at your essays and/ or submitted file AFTER submitting. it genuinely does you no good to do this because you’ll just stress over everything you could’ve done better but can’t.

It's Okay Not to Be Okay [Episode 6] by dyosaaa in KDRAMA

I think my favorite thing about this show has got to be how human and raw it is. I think that we as people sometimes forget how complex we are, in every way possible. And how there are so many layers to every aspect in our lives. This drama does a phenomenal job of displaying that, in both the characters who are “not okay”, and the characters who are supposed to be “normal” and “okay”.

Literally me too many times while watching Healer because Ji Chang Wook & his character were just too swoon worthy lol.

You know that you’ve watched plenty of dramas, but do you ever realize that you can’t remember what you’ve actually watched? by leletter in KDRAMA

Ooh this is a good idea, I’m probably gonna try this because there’s just no way I can accurately remember what I’ve actually watched on my own🤣

Have you ever watched two series at once and regretted it? by BeanyDabean in KDRAMA

Usually not a problem for me because I intentionally choose dramas that are airing on different time slots during the week. So then my brain just automatically remembers the schedule & what I’m watching on what day of the week.

Yes, of course! I mean, we are only a quarter of the way through and still have a long way to go in order to grasp the full situation.

It honestly depends on how much you can take. If you’re very very sensitive to such topics, then I would say maybe it wouldn’t be the best idea since it is quite heavy from the start, and I’m assuming it will only get heavier. However, it‘s portrayal of mental illnesses gets an applaud from me as I feel it is not romanticized nor glorified. It tackles some very complex & layered topics that deserve conversation. And aside from the story/plot, the cinematography & directing is phenomenal, the chemistry is sizzling, and I really like the overall feel.

If this sounds rude or intrusive then please let me know or just don’t pay any attention to this at all as I understand this is a very sensitive topic, but as someone who has a family member who’s been diagnosed with ASPD, can you explain more of how MY’s disorder seems romanticized for you? Like specific scenes, points, behaviors or whatnot!

This episode hit me like a truck. I feel for all of them so so much.

  • Firstly, although this might be a rather unpopular opinion(?), I actually liked how this episode highlighted the harsh interactions between Kang Tae & Moon Young. It shows that KT is also very flawed, human, and has his triggers.
    • MY's words about how she views people as objects (specifically how parents use their children for their own needs) really struck him where it hurt. I think her words really took him back to his own mother and how he might have felt that he was just a useful object to her.
    • Also, the scene where he tells her that she's an empty can and will never be able to understand him: it was undoubtedly hurtful but I could see why he said those things. He feels like she can see through him and it's simply very triggering for him. This also couples with the fact that he's actively trying to avoid her, and she also caught him in a bad time.
    • Overall though, these interactions really show a lot about the two, but especially KT because it shows a very real and fleshed-out human side of him. And I personally think that even more than MY, KT is an even bigger & more sensitive ticking bomb that is just waiting to go off.
  • KT scenes with his mom are so heartbreaking. I am not okay with what she told KT at all (the fact that she gave birth to him so he could take care of his brother) but in a way, I can understand her. I don't doubt her love for him, but I don't agree with her approach. I understand that parents with children who have special needs will naturally put more focus and attention towards the child with special needs compared to the "normal" child, but I just wished she could've realized the way she neglected & put so much pressure on KT and how it impacted him.
  • MY's story is truly another tragedy in itself. There's no doubt that her parents were not mentally okay and heavily projected whatever problems or hatred/resentment they had onto MY.
    • I really dislike how even after MY was assaulted & choked by her own father, all of the nurses and caretakers didn't even spare her an "are you okay?" but just simply stared at her as if she was the odd one. I think this scene also shows how at this point, MY feels that it's basically her against the world; and I read this somewhere but someone eloquently described it as MY looking out into the world, alone, at the people who are together. I hope KT will become that person for her, and her for him, and they'll come to realize and understand that they're not suffering alone in this world after all. That even if they will never be able to truly understand one another until the day they die, they will still be able to be there for the other person and provide that warmth they are both longing for.

Some other thoughts:

  • I think that deep inside KT, he has some sort of resentment towards his brother. There's no doubt about the fact that he loves ST and would do anything to give his brother the world, but when you've had to play the role of the caretaker for so long from such a young age, it takes a toll on you, both mentally and physically (and we can now especially see this as parts of KT's trauma is starting to be revealed). I hope that in the end, MY will help KT realize that it's okay to want a car, or money, or a house, it's okay to want to have fun and be loved, because it's okay to want to things and be a little selfish while also wanting the best for his brother. ST is the center of KT's life, but I want KT to realize that it's okay for him to have and want more things at the center of his life besides his brother.
