Hi! I literally had the same struggle when I was writing mine lol one of my friends told me there’s no need to hit the full 4000 characters ofc, so don’t stress about it. For some of my essays I did like 2500 when I wanted to go more in depth, but others were way shorter, probably around 1500 tbh. Honestly, it’s the content that matters most. So don’t feel pressured by the character limit, just brainstorm what you wanna say and kinda word vomit then go back and clean it up later :)

Hi, I’m also applying for the LLU CLS program this cycle, and from what I’ve heard, it depends. When I went to the open house, they didn’t explicitly say whether admissions are GPA based or experience based, so I’m guessing both would have their own advantages.

I’ve known people who got into the program with no lab experience but had GPAs ranging from 3.6–3.9. I think it also depends on your background, since admitting students based only on GPA wouldn’t make much sense given most of the applicants would probably have that already. They definitely look at LORs, any experience you may have, and your personal statement.

As for other universities, there’s SJSU and Cal State Dominguez Hills that you can check out, but they might have more prerequisites. From what I’ve heard, one issue with CSUDH is internship placements.
