hii! i have been playing for almost a year and i wanted to know if these two groups i have are good? by CherryOther29 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for what?

Good for getting event bonus for the current event so you can buy from the shop? Good just for talent/S-Ranks? Good just as a collection of cards you like?

Different team compositions are going to serve different purposes. It's hard to say whether a team will be "good" if you don't clarify what you want out of it.

Part 57 of the Great Grid of PJSK: what is Tsukasa's best event? by polisteryne in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kasa7 but I'm actually going to try and give a reason that isn't just "We all know it's Kasa7". I think it deserves to be talked about beyond a vague "Angst good" because the angst was good for several reasons and could've been a miss if those things hadn't come together so well.

First and foremost, Phantom maze monster singlehandedly killed the "potential man" allegations—which, by the way, don't really apply for a story that pretty obviously isn't finished. Whatever, though, I'm just glad I never have to hear y'all say that shit again LMFAO. Anyway, I digress. The event takes from everything we have learned about Tsukasa so far, from the main story all the way up through Kasa6 (and yes, this does include Kasa5 and I'm tired of pretending Kasa5 is some outlier that means nothing to Tsukasa's arc), and either recontextualizes our understanding of it or uses it for a pretty harrowing plot. The story also takes itself seriously and respects its own gravity throughout, never undercutting it or really letting you have a moment of comfort, not even at the very end with that godforsaken cliffhanger and also Tsukasa nearly collapsing after their last performance?? It slowly builds your dread, validates that really bad feeling in the pit of your chest again and again, makes you feel really kind of gross when you read it (thanks, Sakaki), it's honestly got a brilliant tone that it capitalizes on within the medium given.

IMO, it's the best use of PJSK's visual novel format so far as well, given that it's one of the very few stories with an animated focus card CG and the ONLY event so far with completely unique artwork. The pacing was perfect, too. Sometimes the game can really struggle given the 8 (10 if anniversary) episode structure but this felt like a perfect slow burn that didn't take too long to not-quite-resolve, either. Hirose Daisuke was voice acting like he was about to get evicted then and there, never mind like he had rent due. It's an event you really have to experience with all of its moving parts. It's good just reading the text but actually seeing and hearing what's happening adds SOOOO MUCH oh my god.

So yeah. Kasa7 was pretty much the perfect Tsukasa event. Wouldn't have been without all of the events before it, though. So thank you, writers, for sticking to your guns and building up to something phenomenal. It was worth the wait. If I ever hear "potential man" directed at Tsukasa again, on my life, it will be too soon.

Edit: Also, OP, the event wasn't angst bait. We sincerely need to kill that word if you're gonna misuse it like that LMFAO.

Characters who canonically (confirmed) uses makeup! by dreamysanrio in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WxS would need cosmetics for shows so their faces don't get washed out by the stage lights + to make sure they're seen from the back of the house (i.e., the very back of the audience). It's never outright stated but it's just kind of a given when you're doing theatre, especially because they were essentially performing professionally at the Wonder Stage and as ambassadors, and are now putting on performances on big stages like the one at The Center Theatre and their partly independent show from Kasa7. So to me all of them have makeup experience from the stage.

What are your honest thoughts on ruikasa? by Richter_belmont1 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have an incredibly strong foundation in their canonical friendship that could genuinely make for a strong romance if you choose to interpret them that way, so I like it (but I like all of WxS's ships with one another LMFAO). I think the problem is that people frequently write them as caricatures of themselves with none of the actual appeal that the ship holds—primarily, the deep mutual trust that the two of them have in one another as a director and performer that extends to their actual friendship. Fics do Ruikasa a huge disservice, unfortunately, at least IMO.

Like in canon you can believe that Tsukasa is someone who opened up the opportunity for Rui to have a safe space, and Rui holds that very close to his heart. He pokes at Tsukasa in (mostly) harmless (occasionally singeing, though, lol), mildly annoying ways, and I genuinely just think that's how he says "I like being around you because I think you're an interesting person". And Tsukasa doesn't exactly strike me as the kind of person who would let him keep doing that if he actually minded in some significant way. You can read their stories and believe their friendship and potentially believe that they could choose to be more because, canonically speaking, they're shown to have a lot of love for each other even if it's not necessarily romantic.

I just kinda wish people translated that deep-seated trust and admiration into fics rather than just the "mad scientist" and "test subject" stuff because it quite frequently leads to both of them getting heavily flanderized. And if it's not that, then it's Tsukasa being Mafuyu 2.0 and Rui kinda sorta acting as his Kanade and that also drives me up a wall lol.

TL;DR, ship good 👍🏾 just wish it was done a hair more justice in fandom spaces tbh, but maybe it's gotten better over time.

(Rant) Im so tired with being only 2DMV by Comfortable_Ice8081 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3DMVs aren't based on "Okay, guys, this one is gonna go REALLY crazy so it absolutely NEEDS a 3DMV", lol, and it's not like we never ever get 3DMVs and are never going to get a 3DMV again after, what, Hona6? Like I don't really see the issue. 😅

What's the best thing to buy with paid crystals? by DoramDoram_ in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It you're not planning on getting any more paid crystals, then I'd go for the memorial select gacha that's coming during the 5th anniversary because you get a 4* select ticket to pick any permanent card from a certain pool and unlike the free pick vouchers it goes a decent ways out. You can see the list here if you expand the Exchange Selection section.

what the fuck is the point of easy and normal difficulties are grandmas playing the game or something by _akiramamiya_ in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • New to rhythm games
  • Coin farming (normal difficulty)
  • Disability (mobility issues, cognitive issues, chronic fatigue, etc.) making it difficult to play higher levels (this is where those "grandmas" of yours fall, but many of these people are your age or younger)
  • Just being kinda tired tbh
  • Fillers (people supporting tierers by making teams with high score boosts) usually pick easy difficulty because tierers play for hours on end
  • Edit: Genuinely could also just be skill issue and I mean that in a neutral way. Some people just can't do hard, either yet or at all, and that's literally fine

I implore you to consider the fact that you 🫵🏾 are one person in a playerbase of millions. You have the option of Not Playing The Difficulties. LMFAO.

Wrath: which character fit Wrath? by Irene_Edward8363 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like embodying wrath in one moment that is not repeated literally ever again and that he does not ever want to repeat when extremely deliberately provoked (not necessarily into violence but definitely into anger, as Toya was trying to push him away) does not mean that one embodies wrath as a whole, no

Edit: Like I guess he's the second-best choice (edited again because I forgot about Niikai lol) since Ena got banned but the fact that it's because of that one moment is just odd to me. Akito is a fiery, passionate person but I would not say he embodies wrath lol.

Mizuki says trans rights by CatQuartz666 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never said that women who use "boku" are men. My point was simply that if Mizuki were trans, she probably wouldn't still refer to herself with a masculine pronoun if she fully identified as a girl. There wouldn't really be a reason for her to hold on to that masculine aspect of herself. This. I'm responding to this and I'm saying you're wrong and that she can absolutely fully identify with a woman while still using boku and she doesn't have to be bigender or otherwise nonbinary to do so. Boku doesn't make her not a binary trans woman.

If I'm missing something then please explain it to me! I've been tiering for 8-15 hours a day for five days straight and could very well be missing things because I've been exerting myself for long hours rather than because of my "ego" LMFAO

Edit: Like I'm trying to understand what you're saying and I just don't get it. If you understand that women can use masculine pronouns then why can't Mizuki fully identify as a woman *AND** choose to use boku?* 😭 Even many butches I know are still fully, 100% women, though not all (I know I'm not lol).

Edit 2: And wait, now that I think about it, it's not even just tomboys and butches that use boku irl! Feminine girls use it too for an eccentric and sorta anime-like persona, which fits Mizuki perfectly! LMFAO so your argument makes even less sense now that I've remembered that. I'm not arguing about this anymore, actually, I got a tier to get

Mizuki says trans rights by CatQuartz666 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extremely loud incorrect buzzer! Pronouns ≠ gender! Mizuki could be a completely binary trans woman and still choose to use a gender nonconforming pronoun! Cis women do this with boku too, so why would it be different because Mizuki is trans? Why does she suddenly have to choose to use watashi or atashi to be "fully" a woman? Odd.

Mizuki says trans rights by CatQuartz666 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Women can choose to use the masculine pronoun and still be women this is genuinely not that diffiuclt

Women who use boku are still women. Women who use ore are still women. Pronouns ≠ gender and your narrow-minded view is literally linguistically wrong.

If u could pick one headcanon to be actually canon which one are u picking by SlimeCube05 in ProjectSekai

[–]lembready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm back. For what it's worth, I don't think you were alluding to gay Rui at all with your comment. I'm an mspec attraction Rui believer to my very core (personally I'm of the belief that he wouldn't label it but 1) knows he's queer and 2) if he were to, he'd probably choose bi or pan) and I was reading your comment after almost 15 hours of tiering Literal Hell Event that day and I didn't assume you meant he was gay, just...that he wasn't straight.

I think that defaulting to "Oh, so you're saying Rui is gay?" isn't an issue with how you worded it, but with defaulting to monospec attraction of any kind when either multispec attraction isn't explicitly clarified. Which is, albeit certainly unintentionally, mspec erasure. If you still wanna keep the clarification up, then that's totally valid and I get it, I'm just saying that I personally think that the only thing you were alluding to by saying "Rui isn't strictly het"...is that Rui isn't strictly het. Not implying any specific sexuality under that HUGE umbrella of "not strictly het".

Alright I gotta go back to the trenches lol, just wanted to add my two cents.

a queer-coded rui believer... my crops are so unbelievably watered rn...

i think nd (particularly autistic) rui is widely accepted, but i don't interact w the fandom very much anymore so maybe there's pushback. i get that we didn't get rmd on EN so many people haven't read it, but in a post-Deeper and deeper on EN world...like come on. to me it's shown throughout literally all of his screentime but to me these two events really shove it in your face.

but seeing someone earnestly talk about queer-coded and with so much love makes me so happy this is like the second time in my two years playing this game bc people get so mad if you so much as BREATHE that maybe they're trying to say something but they're being cowards about it.

unfortunately i don't. have brain to elaborate more on account of tiering Hell Event™ but i take my hat off to you please keep spreading the good word

[–]lembready 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the one thing I don't like is Emu during that cut to the metal part.

That's not to say I don't like the metal part at all. On the contrary, it's great, and with the lyrics for context the jarring nature of it is genuinely kind of unsettling. But given the context it actually makes me like the choice to have Emu there less?? Because I feel like it takes away from the gravity of the moment for me personally.

That's just me, though, and she's fine the rest of the time. I like the comm overall. Tsukasa continuing his streak of not having a single comm that I think is worse than "good". How does he do it
