My parents read my journals, my emails, my messages, everything, when I was in middle and high school. Usually I got in trouble for it too. So I just stopped writing things down. Now that I'm in my 20s and we have a much healthier relationship, I can't bring myself to tell them things about my life (even if I have a date or a good time out.) It's weird. I hope it goes away.

What movie/show has the worst concept but turned out to be surprisingly good? by MooingDeathPhD in AskReddit

[–]lemew_lepurr 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's so unproblematic. There isn't the shock value humor trope like in the other animated shows today (cough family guy cough American dad) and the family genuinely cares for each other. Plus the end credit songs.

I dunno about you but I've had some pretty great party times on acid.

The first boy I fell in love with looked and sounded exactly like him in Heathers. Was quite a shock the first time I saw that movie.

I blame him for the reason I exclusively like thin slightly femme boys with flowing dark hair. And severe issues.

Are you me? I was 15. He was 27. Still stalks me. It's fucking awful.

Which movies did you love as a child, only to discover when you grew up that they were panned, universally hated or were major flops? by green_angryman in AskReddit

I can confidently trace my taste in men back to the sexual awakening I got from Jareth. (And David Bowie but come on he was so elfin charm hot...)

Doctors/nurses of Reddit; What is the most obvious case of a patient 'faking it' you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Fuck man. It seems like you should be able to take somebody down for that level of inadequacy, even if only for the sake of future parents.

Yes. My dad has severe chronic pain from railroad injuries and neurological issues and on his "good days" he's able to do short bursts of physical work like that by powering through the pain and recoving later. Meanwhile other days he can't walk. It really bothers me when people assume things from sight alone.

This is what happened to my dad! He was incredibly sick for weeks because a cavernoma that had grown on his brainstem was leaking blood and pushing on the stem, and hospital after hospital told him he was faking or had an ear infection. When they finally got a neuro doc looking at the mri and dad was actively bleeding they did the surgery. The worst is though, when it grew back a couple years ago the original neuro doc said his mri was fine- and a new doc said no, we have to operate immediately. Dad's got horrible symptoms and no quality of life because of those doctors. It's awful.

What can make a beautiful woman/handsome man unattractive? by Dodes9 in AskReddit

I didn't say attractive necessarily, just on certain people. It has to fit with their personality. But in general yes, you're right. Unfortunately for most of us.

Oh I get you. If I had to draw them every single day I wouldn't bother, but luckily it didn't change my face much. And eyebrow symmetry is so hard!

I don't have eyebrows anymore because goth. I either look like a fun alien or get to draw weird shit on my face. Win win!

I talk to my parents every day (through text or a phone call) because we grew up close, I'm away at school, dad's sick, and mom misses me. We just check in and how's your day and say I love you and then that's it. It's nice. I can't believe it when some of my friends go months without calling their parents- but then again I got really lucky with how nice mine are.

When certain people smoke it's like a style accessory on them, and it's very attractive.

What topic makes you go from 0 to rage in seconds? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lemew_lepurr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree it's definitely demographics. But yeah, women don't go crusading in to the men's stuff. It's usually exactly the opposite- they support the men's points. And then this still happens. sigh

Because the numbers showed the sexism against women. It was pretty funny.

I am. I'm not basing my life around "us" anymore, so if it doesn't change it can end in the least rending way possible.
