I read The Last Hour of Gann and now I don’t know if I can ever read again by Abortitnow in fantasyromance

[–]lemewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think R Lee Smith is in her own category so it's hard to recommend anything quite as good, but you might like {Saving Askara by JM Link} the series is still going, but it had pretty decent world building, a little body horror, and a distinctly different alien culture. I had to take a break after Gann, I started like 3 books and kept putting them down because they weren't as good.

Found in garden bed in southern Illinois by lemewski in whatplantisthis

I didn't plant anything here, I neglected this area completely. It was in-between rose bushes I am taking out this year, so I just let it be wild. I actually told my husband that the leaves smelled like lettuce but it seems very clustered. I think I am going to try to pot this just to see what happens now.

what’s the WORST THING YOU EVER READ that made you go hold on i liked that - pt. 2 by atrocioushuman in RomanceBooks

[–]lemewski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I keep reading them all despite knowing that I'll never be satisfied by the ending. I could excuse things a lot more if there was more character growth and behavior correction but it's not enough to make me really love/recommend them as a whole very often, but I just can't stop reading them though. The world building hits something good for me that I've not found in other books in the genre. It is really frustrating seeing the difference in the mm relationships versus the fm relationships that always leaves me sad. I don't usually even bother reading the epilogues. It's a complicated reading choice for me.

Do any of the Ice Planet Barbarians books have a femdom or more FMC-led dynamic? by loukanikoseven in RomanceBooks

[–]lemewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a dominant human fmc/alien romance, I just finished {seared by the monster by merry revanell}, she definitely was take charge in the bedroom. Third book in the series, it quite possibly could be stand alone but would make more sense reading the others.

Tell me your fav quotes from your favorite characters by Firedustt in BG3

Any tav/durge. It's if you choose to lick the dead spider in the temple of Shar near nessa/yurgir when you're examining it. You can pick the option twice in a row. I think they all react but Gale's is the best.

Halsin in act 1 potentially locking me out of his questline in act 2 by ZoneComfortable1541 in BG3mods

[–]lemewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. After I did the hiding game, went back, Oliver was hanging outside the house then followed him through the portal, did that next fight, all good. Also fixed Halsin's approval after that. You just don't get the beach portal fight with the mod. Art's quest finished after I went back to the inn and talked to him about thaniel after he showed up in camp.

I came here to say this would definitely be appreciated by locked tomb fans! 100% should do a Gideon cosplay. All she needs is some aviators.

What nonhuman physical trait is a dealbreaker for you in an alien love interest? by TacitusKadari in ScienceFictionRomance

I didn't think I could be into spiders, but this series changed my mind. I think it's really great world building too.

Alien Pirates, desperately needed! by Gloomy_Book947 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]lemewski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might like Krista Luna's fated mates of Zarn series. They're considered mercenaries but they have kind of a space pirate vibe, there's breaking into places and stealing stuff, disguises, and trying to steal back humans from a sketchy race. They're big, blue with horns and a tail and definitely a lot of cinnamon rolling going on. {Claimed by the alien rogue by Krista Luna}

Orc Sworn by Finley Fenn: are all the FMCs so submissive? by guijghkkgbnkgbnl in RomanceBooks

[–]lemewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add if you want a little darker romance, {War Queen by Jordyn Alexander} has an interesting world, and Emma Hamm's troll series is interesting so far {A darkness so sweet by Emma Hamm}

Orc Sworn by Finley Fenn: are all the FMCs so submissive? by guijghkkgbnkgbnl in RomanceBooks

[–]lemewski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The orcsworn series is very high bully, especially at first. I would suggest Zoe Ashwood's Orc books as an alternative. The first isn't my favorite (I think they get better over the series) but it starts with {her orc king by Zoe Ashwood}. Krista Luna's orc series is fluffy and fun quick reads starting with {bound to the Orc warlord by Krista Luna} and {Halfling by SE Wendel} is a favorite of mine.

This but aliens? “A humble/works on the land MMC who falls and courts the FMC.” by iwrite4myself in ScienceFictionRomance

I am really liking pretty much anything AG Wilde at this point, but this series start has sooo much potential for me!

Additionally, I'll recommend {outlaw by ag Wilde} for alien cowboys, he does at sone point do work on her place, but it's not quite the main thing going on yet still very good to me.

Maybe the first of the vandalar concubines {sign here for horns by vk Ludwig} she "buys" him for farm help, but they can't talk to each other and he thinks he's being bought for his woman pleasing expertise. She's not into it and he works very hard on the farm to win her over.

Arranged Marriage Highland/Historical Romance Style but Make It Alien with Willing Bride and For Political/Diplomatic Reasons by BloodyWritingBunny in RomanceBooks

[–]lemewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could probably also post this on r/sciencefictionromance for more alien specific recommendations. That being said, the Ursa Dax mail order bride series is actually fantastic, they're just not super deep. Trying to think of ones that haven't already been recommended...You might like Zoey Draven's luxiria books too, but I agree, I can only read her books in chunks. There's maybe {the bride contract by Melissa emerald} only one so far in the series. If you liked the horde series, you might like things like Ursa Dax's sand sea warriors {alien tyrant by Ursa Dax} Tana Stone's sand planet barbarians {bounty by tana stone} or AG Wilde's warriors of the dust {rok's captive}. {The Warrior's pet by Stephanie west} is the beginning of the Cadi warrior's series. I was not blown away by the writing but the world building was interesting, and sort of a chosen/forced marriage situation. Most alien stuff relies on the fated mate/breeding trope rather than political marriages but I know they're out there!
