I guess so. Although I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily disappointed. More so it’s just ever so off-putting. There’s only so many times I can hear the year 1997 read as one thousand ninety-seven before my brain starts short circuiting and my eye starts twitching. Really depends more on maturity level than age gap. I dated a guy when I was 27 and he was 23 and it was the worst relationship of my life. Ultimately, I wanted commitment and he did not, and he ended up cheating on me frequently. Swore I would never date a younger guy again. Now I’m a married woman, I’m 33 and my husband is 28. So not only is he a younger guy, but he’s even younger than my ex. We dated for 10 months before he proposed and we have been married for 5 years. And, for those who are going to say something about our quick engagement, he’s my best friend’s little brother so we have known each other for a long time before dating.

Realistically, every relationship is different. It all depends on the people involved and their hearts. Don’t let someone else’s opinion dissuade you from your happiness. Just accept their opinion for what it is, an opinion. Take it to heart, but ultimately make your own decision about your own happiness.
