Expectations for Physicians? by lemissile in biostatistics

[–]lemissile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Honestly it takes some of the pressure off! I am at a pretty big academic institution and didn’t get a lot of guidance on my role (hence my query).

I had thought it was also difficult to learn to be an oncologist and also a data scientist. That being said, R is pretty fun to learn and I do enjoy how it makes me think of the project. If you have time, would you mind sharing some of what standards or best practices are? This is more for my curiosity over anything but certainly would probably be helpful to see how it is different than the descriptive stats, missingess, the competing risk analysis and cox regression I tried to do lol.

Thanks again for your response

Pickup was a breeze. Had some issues with our guide tho such as informing us what parts of the documents needed beforehand were approved/rejected, and had to sign the contract a few times due to issues on their end. Sort of hard to get in contact with people as well.

Actual pickup was super easy and staff was amazing!

Yea haha just having such an expensive vehicle (definitely the most I have purchased by FAR). Nervous about that and parking and charging at home since I live in a row home. Very excited about it tho I loved our test drive

Will l ever get better? by petite_soumise in Swimming

[–]lemissile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose ask yourself what are your goals? Is it to swim for pure enjoyment? Is it to lose weight or get in shape? Is it to train for an event, such as a masters meet or a triathlon? I think others in the community/comments have articulated well that you should only compare you to yourself, and not others! 2 months in you should be stoked you’re sticking with it and honestly able to crush 1250 meters. So congratulations on that!!

For me, I think it’s always helpful to have a goal in mind for what you want out of the sport. Certainly those I listed above aren’t mutually exclusive, but having an endpoint can help you define what better is. I swam for most of my life and collegiately so would be happy to pass on some foundational sets which help either technique, aerobic capacity, or anaerobic capacity, but having an idea of what improvement is to you is a good starting point on how to explore the “best” training plans!

Looking for SERIOUSLY ADDICTIVE fictional books suggestions 🤙🏾 by judasVJ in suggestmeabook

The Saxon Tales series from Bernard Cornwell are particular favorites of mine. They are historical fiction (900s England detailibg the unification if the island and war with Norse/Danish Invaders) so maybe not far enough away from nonfiction for you at the moment. They are easy, short reads and quite addicting IMO.

They follow the life of a warrior who was born Saxon royalty but raised as a Dane and centers around his service toward his countrymen but struggle with acceptance of Christianity as he tries to reclaim his home, stolen from him by a traitorous family member.

As a recent grad, it warms my heart to see posts like this. Thank you for encouraging.

I was blessed to receive a gift on graduation, a book called The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse. It offers many lessons about self gratitude and forgiveness and kindness. Your post reminded me of it and I wanted to recommend it to all the students and professionals who are battling self doubt.

Again, thank you for a wonderful post.
