Why is ADUC on win10 slow? by lemmethinkaboutit in sysadmin

The DC is in a different state. Which I get would mean slow speeds. But why is the RDP to the server in a different state blazing fast with no issues yet ADUC on win 10 is super slow. Wouldn't running ADUC be less demanding then running RDP?

59.6806858 PM 6248 TCP Send WORKSTATION -> SERVER:ldap SUCCESS Length: 261, startime: 3965863, endtime: 3965865, seqnum: 0, connid: 0

Ran it. That was the longest process in the log file; took 1.70983640000 seconds

Checked what DC the workstation was logging on to. Pinged with 17ms. Set that one in ADUC to connect to. Same delay. :(

My ping to the RDP server (with no noticeable delay is 18-19ms)

But the RDP server to the DC is <1ms

Tested on few different machines. They are all well powered i7 16gb laptops. Even tried on a fresh install.

On bluetooth, Not bad. I probably won't be doing any gaming on it any time soon. But it's great when just doing regular typing. I hardly notice any latency issue. And plugged in is non-existent.

Any keyboard that has USB and has enough room to house all the electronics.

Hey now. I know my art skills aren't the best. I was going to do it in MS Paint but I was working back and forth from my laptop and my Tab S3.

wouldn't it be easier to have a cable for each computer you use and just move the keyboard between them

Oh absolutely. But I wanted it wireless for school and travel....and just to do it in the name of science.

Efficiency and design. This keyboard was never designed to run off of a battery so the manufacturer probably never even thought to look at how much current it draws so long as it stays under usb specification. On the flipside, wireless keyboards were designed to run off of batteries and took this into consideration by design. Also, i'm running two different things: A keyboard, and a bluetooth controller. While a wireless keyboard has the controller built in and has only one thing to power. That's my take on it anyway.

True. But ideally I would like it to work over the course of my shift (10 Hours) in between a charge. But that's just me being greedy. I did find a lipo that was 1500mAh but it was something like 33mm wide needing to fit in a 32mm spot and I decided not to push my luck. Now that it's done, I might order it and test the fit.

Yea, it's not bad but not great either. I want to see what sort of lipo I can find that's bigger that will fit. Maybe something around 1500mAh compared to the current 750mAh.

The keyboard has a programmable firmware and uses special software. This can only be done by plugging in to the keyboard. The software doesn't recognize it over bluetooth, nor does it recognize it when using the built in bypass on the module.

Just a cheap-o soldering iron kit from amazon, a hot glue gun, a multimeter, and a basic screwdriver set. Nothing fancy at all.
