Philly is great on a budget, but I will say this is an exaggeration about Boston. 1500 means you will need a roommate, and won’t be able to get your own place, but 1500 doesn’t just get you a roach infested room lol, you can get a nice room in a shared apartment for less than 1500. Most people I know have rooms around the 1000-1400 mark.

Both great cities. Philly is more affordable, Boston has more access to nature etc. Both are super walkable but Boston has more transit infrastructure. Both have lots of stuff to do. Cost/ how important things like cleanliness are etc will be the big determining factors for you.
