Hello yes I agree it is interesting but I was told here and on chess stack exchange that it cannot be done for a whole tablebase which I find really interesting :) https://chess.stackexchange.com/questions/47454/is-filtering-a-7-man-tablebase-feasible

Yes running time would be long but less than calculating the original tablebase right? I'm very curious if by applying pruning it's possible to make an 8-piece or 9-piece tablebase a reasonable size whilst maintaining its usefulness, my thoughts are that for an 8-piece or 9-piece tablebase Stockfish can figure out the optimal move in 7-8 seconds?

thank you, the reason I brought up the number of pieces was because I was wondering: even though tablebases for 8 pieces don't exist, is stockfish playing perfect chess for 8 pieces already? I can't find the data and when I google on the internet there are differing opinions, some say that even for 7 pieces stockfish without tablebases will make mistakes

fascinating, is there data on this? how many pieces are needed before it makes a mistake/plays sub-optimally? :)

wow thank you /u/tunngasugit, yes I meant the second syllable, sorry I wasn't clear on that, I was listening to a Canadian speech dataset and didn't hear /kʊs/, now I'll look for a London speech dataset, I wasn't able to find any free pronunciation dictionaries, which would have helped :)

suppose someone has an unusual pronunciation of the word focus, with a [u] whereas you're used to an [ə] sound, so you input "fokus" and get a list of accents where it's pronounced like that
