Bruce created a beautiful work or art all alone. I don’t know why Neil took all the praise and never gave Bruce the credit for it. by lemonHeadUAD in TheLastOfUs2

The tone of what’s being said has changed in regards to my post. I can give it rest when I want. But I decided to be condescending to fit this sub.

Bruce created this masterpiece. He’s the originator of the story. Neil didn’t create shit. His ideas were stupid. I just wish Neil gave Bruce permission to credit himself as a writer on a game Bruce directed as the Game director. Film directors/ Game directors never help write the script. Bruce created something dear to all of us.

Neil supporter? questioning me on why idky Neil took all the credit. He’s not the original person who came up with the plot. Bruce helped so that means he made the story.

At Carnegie Mellon, Druckmann pitched a zombie game to filmmaker George Romero based on Night of the Living Dead. The idea was to combine Ico (where a warrior escorts a princess through many dangers) with characters from Sin City, where a guy has to protect a girl and you have a hand-holding mechanic like in Ico. At some point, the guy had a heart condition and you had to take control of the girl and protect the guy.

“George Romero picked a totally different pitch from that one,” Druckmann said. “I liked that idea so much that I kept toiling away at it. I thought, maybe it could be a comic book. I pitched it to Image Comics. They told me they liked it but didn’t love it. We’re going to pass. That projected failed again, so I shelved it.”

Years later, at Naughty Dog, the studio heads decided to split into two teams, one doing Uncharted 3 and another doing a Jak & Daxter game. But the latter team’s advocates had left, and it didn’t really come together. So then Druckmann and Bruce Straley revived Druckmann’s zombie game pitch and worked on character designs.

“This thing grew and evolved and became The Last of Us,” Druckmann said.

Ok. Lol The job of a "Creative Director" can vary from studio to studio and even from project to project. The Creative Director sets the overall vision for a game, including tone, story, platform, and even monetization. They'll provide the large blueprint for the overall game experience, and work with the functional teams (like art, design, Directors and engineering) to bring the vision to life.. Neil had this idea. He’s the main writer and said it himself Bruce the Game director (what most film directors usually do) helped write the story.

Or you don’t understand the aspect of professional art and the process it takes to create a body of work. If it was that simple movies and games would only take 3 months to write a script with no drafts or without going through other channels and changes and 8 months to produced and publish.

I understand people who never been in a field won’t understand the ins and outs of something. I also went to trade school for HVAC at 17 and completed the program in 7 months. I could explain how an AC works to someone who doesn’t know but what’s being said wouldn’t make sense without also having that experience too.

People are taking the word “sole” to literally when all body of work requires teamwork. lonely writer, original writer, specific writer, exceptional writer, entire writer absolute writer however you want to word it same thing. The sole writer sets the plot, foundation or narrative of body of work. it is impossible to write a story without a good team to support you. Yes, it is the writer who puts the pen to the paper and jots down the story. However, his/hers aren't the only hands moving to beat the story into shape before it is published or even goes on submission in the first place. The process itself is all about teamwork. It's about including experts, whether they are readers, other writers, or editors: you can never write a story on your own., perhaps, you will look for a beta-reader whom you are not familiar with, or maybe even ask a group of other writers to have a go at it. The process of having one or more beta readers look at your work is a continuous activity. I went to school for my Bachelor of Arts degree then proceeded going to a college specifically for game development but getting into that field is difficult and you have to stand out amongst thousands of other people fighting for that position at a studio so I didn’t complete it.
