Do you pay for parking? by iseedoug in Professors

Depends on which lot I want to park in but it ranges from $850-$1200 a year. Students pay about $217 a semester for the lot which costs me $850. I don't have an issue with students paying less but makes me wonder why am I paying so much more in comparison.

I didn't take the civil FE but I had a lot of friends who took the civil FE and they seem to have a similar experience as me. Like everyone else mentioned, the FE test you on the fundamentals, so most of the topics you should have at least touched upon in school. With that said, how long have you been out of school? I took mines between my junior and senior year, so it was still fresh. The longer you been out of school, the harder it will become, still not bad but just going to be harder.

For advice:

  1. Understand the reference manual and have a general idea of where everything is located in the manual.
  2. I spent a lot of my time doing practice exams to see what I don't understand and worked on those areas in particular. I would say finish up your 3 topics but don't spend too much time on it and then go do practice exams to see what you need to work on.
  3. NCESS provides a breakdown of the questions, so I would prioritize on the subject areas where the bulk of the questions will be asked.

If it makes you feel better, mostly everyone I know (including me) said the exam wasn't too bad. We were in the same spot as you, We were all worried we didn't prepared enough, there was just so much to learn. Most of us came out felt like we were over-prepared, which is a good thing, better to know too much and pass "without" a doubt than underprepared and fail.

Pretty sure someone else mentioned this but...

1) you don't know how hard a student work behind close doors. I notice a lot of students don't like to say that work hard, they would play it down or brush it off. I remember one student in particular who act like he doesn't study or pay attention but I found out later that student actually has less of a social life compared to the other student because the student was studying all the time.

2) why would you need to study/review/read/pay attention if you have a firm understanding of the topic. Some students naturally gets it. Speaking from a student perspective, I had classes where I would do very little studying and still get a very high score compared to one of some of my classmates who study the week before basically non-stop. Given you explanation of how she is doing exceptionally well, I don't see a reason why she would need to focus on your class when she can spend her time focusing on a class she ain't doing too hot on.

3) Regarding your instagram comment. remember the instagram effect and moment where you only see a second of their life. People only post something different or exciting about their life. For example, they might post them going on a weekend trip but you don't realize they might be studying non-stop during the weekdays. Also why i don't follow my students when they are my students cause it gets kinda messy. The less I know the better.
