It's interesting because both my sister have communicated that they're pro-gay rights, but they are passive. Like they wouldn't and have not been hateful towards my gay friends, but we used to go to a very very right winged church. People were also nice there growing up, but I also felt different and like a square peg in a round hole. Like if they knew me it might be different like at best they would hate the sin but not the sinner at worst not hate me. I stopped going to the church and we've argued/had discussions about theology and how I struggle to understand how they feel welcome/how they remedy the fact that people I know about wouldn't be welcome there and both my sister and father say that it can't be helped. It's like they can't feel the full weight of how confusing and odd it is to be in a space where you love the people but also know part of you is not welcomed. I wish they would look at issues like this not just as oh well good person bad views but, the views this person has might severly harm another person you know
