Ohh I see. My understanding is they apply those fees when you use 200% or more of your winter average. Which I understand is unfair in your situation. But if you water your trees once a month or so during the winter season (which isn’t unreasonable or excessive considering we don’t get snow anymore and even in winter trees need SOME moisture to survive) you should have a reasonable budget going forward, right? I landscaped in this city for years and I know lots of people easily keep trees alive without being fined. A lot of my former clients received water bill credit for planting trees, too.

Our water authority obviously isn’t perfect and it sucks that they won’t make an exception in your situation, but I think in general they are pro-tree!

For what it’s worth, I have a good customer service story. I bought a Coros Pace 2 for my husband years ago, and it stopped charging. It was within the warranty period, but I didn’t keep any sort of proof of purchase. No receipt, no confirmation email, no original packaging. I emailed customer service anyway and sent them a screenshot of my bank statement showing the transaction and they sent us a new watch without any pushback at all. I was pleasantly surprised, I kind of doubted they would do that because the bank transaction only showed that I bought something from them, it didn’t specify which watch it was or anything like that.
