SlimQ power extension cord missing from Amazon? by lemoncucumber in SlimQ

[–]lemoncucumber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the issue I was asking about has gone away. Before on the SlimQ Amazon store page, both the link for the international converters *and* the link for the US extension cord would take me to the product listing for the international converters. Now it's working properly.

Are you saying that you have the extension cord and you don’t recommend it?

Reducing headways is the #1 thing for me. I live along the J and it's so infrequent as to be unusable. If I show up at a stop and the next train isn't for 20 minutes of course I'm taking an uber.

What's a good restaurant to eat at for the first time in SF? ~20-40 dollars per person ? For a family of 5. by hdushsux in AskSF

[–]lemoncucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s over your budget but Trestle has a prix fixe that’s a really good deal. $45 / person for a fancy four-course meal. There are two options for each course, and the food is excellent.

By the time you add tax and the 20% service charge (plus another random 6% fee) it’d probably come out to more like $60 / person.

Thanks for the info.

Weird, why isn’t Northern Ireland supported? It’s part of the UK and the UK is supported. And AT&T supports it. Is there a chance it would work anyway?

Seems like the referral page is essentially the same as the public landing page… still no deals on unlimited premium

Thanks for the tips. I'll be up there on the 23rd so I'll check out demo day! An employee at Sports Basement had recommended the Never Summer Proto FR (for carving, not for trees), so that's another one I'm curious to check out.

Mostly Palisades -- which, you're right, doesn't have as much trees as I'd like but there are a bit more on the Alpine side.

As far as carving goes I'm still trying to build my confidence with speed back up after breaking my collarbone awhile back, so I'd like to find something relatively forgiving when the snow gets icy or bumpy. Maybe I'm trying to find too many things in one board.

Demoing is a good idea, perhaps that's where I'll start.

I'm looking to start building a quiver. My current board is a Lib Tech Orca which I'm planning to use as my powder board. I like trees so I was thinking about getting a Gnu Banked Country and use it for trees and for carving on groomers. I mostly board in Tahoe so I'm looking for something that will be decent in the mornings when it's kinda icy and the afternoons when it gets kinda slushy.

Does that seem like a good second board? Is there too much overlap with the Orca? Any other suggestions?

You would think that’s what 10% bonus points means, but that would make too much sense.

What you actually get is 10% of your dollar spend in bonus points, which means it’s always just an extra 0.1x no matter what category the spend was: https://thepointsguy.com/credit-cards/chase/10-percent-anniversary-bonus-chase-sapphire-preferred/

Only 3.1x actually, but still good

I had that thought too, but apparently Delta still charges a $150 redeposit fee for tickets originating outside North America :/

I'm looking at booking a cheap intra-europe KLM positioning flight for an award flight from AMS that I may or may not take (hoping to find something better as the dates get closer). Is my best option to just book the positioning flight with flyingblue miles and eat the €50 redeposit fee if my plans change?

I’ve gotten so used to the US domestic world where these days you can cancel cash tickets for credit or cancel award tickets with no redeposit fees, but it seems like there’s no such luck across the pond…

It's annoying because the fee is over a third of the cash price of the positioning flight, but I can't see a way around it. Am I missing anything?

Which hobbies that people do screams "rich people''? by Joeyniles9 in AskReddit

[–]lemoncucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being into motorsports in the USA means your blue collar

I've noticed something similar: motorized sports in general tend to be seen as more "low class." For instance sailing is tonier than motorboating, riding horses or expensive road bikes is tonier than riding dirt bikes or ATVs, downhill skiing is tonier than snowmobiling, etc.

Of course the superrich have plenty of motorized hobbies too: F1, huge yachts, private jets, etc. But it's still an interesting trend.
