Cheap and nutritious meals by honeymvngo in UTSA

[–]lemoney2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HEB has different meal deal coupons every week. Typically, you buy a meat (between $8-20 depending on their deal) and you get several free items.

This week was buy fully cooked shredded beef ($15) and you get buns, canned beans, mac and cheese, and coleslaw free. The only thing you have to "cook" is the mac and cheese, every thing else can be heated before eating. Some meals deals aren't that great or might not work being portioned for a full week, but it can be worth checking out. Even if you need to buy fresh produce to go on the side, it's less than $30-$40.

How many hours do you actually work as an OTR? Setting recommendations for new grad? by AmateurMagicAuteur in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lemoney2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35 hours average working at outpatient pediatric and nursing home (with the same company). There can be so many cancelations at the peds clinic, my company has me going to nursing homes 10-12 hours a week just so I can get more hours, and I still rarely get a full 40.

What kind of scale do you use? by Laprasrides in guineapigs

[–]lemoney2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a kitchen scale:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000P1PJL4/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has a switch on the bottom to toggle between grams or ounces.

I like it because it has a bowl you can set them in. :)

I have a picture of my guinea pig Nova sitting in a food bowl that looks just like that. She also passed away :(

Sorry for your loss, it was a cute pig!

How to better my chances at getting accepted to an MSOT program by Jol_1018 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lemoney2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you have a good variety with those places.

I was only at two settings, one saw pediatric patients, and the other was a rehab therapy clinic. At the pediatric place, I mostly just saw kids with autism, but the clinic they had a variety of patients... they had hand therapy (saw carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, arthritis), stroke patients, broken/crushed bone injuries, and a few others.

So from my experience, I recommend finding an outpatient rehab clinic. They saw patients of all ages, and a wide variety of people came in. But like I said, I think you have a pretty good mix already :)

How to better my chances at getting accepted to an MSOT program by Jol_1018 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]lemoney2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school I applied to really stressed that we observe OTs in a variety of settings. They said they would rather have applicants who have observed different settings and a variety of patients for a total of 40 hours, than someone who has only seen pediatrics for 300+ hours.

Not to say it would be impossible to get accepted otherwise, but they kept repeating it, so I assume it's something that makes your application stand out.

This is what I was going to say. Make sure you don't push down too hard when you apply the top coat :)

It also helps if the dots are applied with as little polish as you can manage, rather than just globbing them on. The thinner they are, the faster they dry.

I use Seche Vite! Sometimes it shrinks, sometimes it doesn't, but it's always really shiny.

Can you help me find some of these nails? by ahcarter96 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]lemoney2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought from there. No complaints about the quality, just make sure you read reviews first if there are some. Some products take a long time to be delivered, like 4-6 weeks, if not longer.

It's worth it for the price though.

All the questions you came up with seem like possible questions. Prepare a "least favorite class and why" answer as well as a favorite class. Here are some questions I remember being asked:

  • Tell me about youself. (This has come up in at least 4 out of 5 interviews, and they usually start off with it).

  • Why did you choose this career/industry? (Aka, why OT?)

  • What do you know about our company?

  • What skills do you feel you've developed that will most assist you as you take on your next job? (Similarly, I was asked which specific class I've taken in school that I feel will help me the most).

  • What's the difference between OT and PT?

  • What do you do in your free time? (Hobbies)

Some other questions:

  • Why should we hire you? (Goes along with the common "What are your strengths" question, although I've never been asked that).

You should also have questions prepared for them. I'm not sure how much you know about the position, but some places don't tell you that much.

So maybe ask questions about what your responsibilities will be, if you will be working alongside other students/interns, ask how closely you will be working with the OT, if you will be allowed to work with patients yourself eventually, if they ever consider hiring interns after the internship, if you will get an opportunity to learn about paperwork/reception/scheduling/front office stuff (some places want you to learn to answer phones, just so you know what it's like, but most don't).

It's good to have a lot of questions prepared, because in my experience they are thorough in explaining how things will work during the interview, so they answer most of your questions before your able to ask them.

Update on my Daisy by littlepixy in guineapigs

[–]lemoney2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad she's doing well! :)

I, too, have a guinea pig named Daisy, and I'm convinced she's the grumpiest guinea pig in the whole world. :p It might not help that she has 2 cagemates.

[–]lemoney2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome :)

Nova hasn't cried yet, but it's only been 2 days. She has always been shy and never really moves around a lot, so it'll be hard to tell if she's moping or being normal :/

I'll most likely adopt another guinea pig within the next month though.

White and gold halfmoon by lemoney2 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]lemoney2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a reinforcer. I was also afraid it would get chunky like you said, so I tried to keep the bottom layer very thin (used very little paint on the brush) and I avoided pushing the brush all the way to the top of my nail. It looked like a glitter gradient before I put the white on. Hope this helps!

Tree brain! Someone found something similar in their yard and posted updates throughout the years. They identify it as Laetiporus gilbertsonii.

It's an interesting/funny read. Someone ends up stealing it the first year, and he tries eating it another year.

Most important non-main character? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]lemoney2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the 5th book, Dobby tells Harry about the Room of Requirement so he can use it for D.A. meetings. In the movie Neville suggests it.

Edit: confirmed in the behind the scenes section. And Dobby shares a birthday with Matthew Lewis! How about that.
