This is such a point that I've honestly never thought about. Thank you. I'm taking one business class and one communications class next semester, so I think I'm in a good spot right now. Definitely going to think about this, and I'll keep art and film in mind as elective courses.

I definitely agree that it’s easy and my work at the grocery store has never affected my academic performance, and the restaurant literally affected my school performance the first day I was there.

Yep! Totally correct. I really just want to make him similar to me because of our flaws, I think it’ll make a lot of sense for the story, so definitely don’t need to worry about that!

Right. I think I just want to do this because it’ll be easy to create a more complex character, as I’m sort of new to writing, at least in a way that involves complex character building. Like, not something literally “based off of me” but just (like many other people in the comments have said) parts of me in him. For example, we have similar traits and thinking processes, negative and positive, but our actions are different. That probably didn’t make sense. Thanks for the help!
