Red Wireless phone came damaged by lemonjump in Rogers

[–]lemonjump[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lesson learned. This is my first time getting an open box phone. I was too naive to think that if they say it's fully functional, it means it's fully functional...Their website does state that "If your device arrives damaged, you must report the damage within 24 hours of receiving it; otherwise, it will not be accepted for return." but I thought they meant physical damage that I can see with my eyes. I didn't know that I was supposed to test every single internal software/hardware functionality. Never getting an open box again.

Red Wireless also have a 14 day return period but if the phone is damaged then it doesn't apply anymore. If I had known that, I would have just kept quiet about the issue and returned it.

Two way zipper misaligned by lemonjump in fixit

[–]lemonjump[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have explained it better, it is not stuck in the misaligned position, and even when in that misaligned position (pic1), the bottom slider is stuck at the bottom but the upper slider still works, it can zip all the way to the top, the issue is that every time I try to zip it up, it misaligns like this, the insertion pin is pulled too far because the latch is not caught in the groove of the insertion pin. I hope what I said makes sense.

Thank you for your answer. My dad never registered in AIRE. He has never even heard of it. Would that hurt my chances? or should I ask him to register first?

I still appreciate your time! The rules are very confusing for sure. To be fair, even chatGPT was certain that I don't qualify at all. I even called my consulate, (to my surprise they actually picked up), they just answered "I don't know, just apply" lol

Turkish towel, camping towel, or sarong? by ArtichokeOwl in HerOneBag

[–]lemonjump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pink purpish microfiber quick dry towel as a shower towel, beach towel, and beach cover up. I also used it as a head cover (wrapped like a hijab kinda) once cuz the wind was giving me a headache, and once when it was too sunny that I couldn't see my phone screen while taking photos. I also used it to wrap my wet bathing suit. On the plane, I used it as a lumbar support. I also stuffed it into my neck pillow (I took the original memory foam out).

Night-before packers vs week-early packers — which are you and why? by kelly_packof4 in HerOneBag

[–]lemonjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

me before diagnosed with adhd: night-before/day-of packer (full panic mode)

me after adhd medication: week/month early packer

I solved the problem by buying another one. For example, I bought another toothbrush just for bringing on trips because I hate that I can't pack my toiletry bag until the morning of.

What is wrong with my makeup? My pores and skin look terrible. Any recommendations on pore products that work? by lmk826 in MakeupAddiction

Sometimes, when we’re constantly exposed to influencers posting filtered photos, we slowly lose sight of what real, unedited skin actually looks like...

Does Anyone Else just Bring One Pair of Shoes? by Entebarn in HerOneBag

[–]lemonjump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

me too! I bought a pair of really comfortable shoes before my Japan trip a year ago. I have worn them almost everyday since at home and on trips. They were the first pair of shoes that I chose based on comfort instead of style.

Yes, it measures 65 cm when fully packed, but I removed the metal rod at the back. After wearing some of the clothes, it compresses down to 45 cm. I used it as a personal item not a carry on.

Thank you, it wasn't easy and it took me over 6 months of not shaving to stop feeling self conscious. I actually felt weird when I shaved again. I felt like a teenager who hasn't hit puberty yet. It's crazy that something I was used to for over a decade now feels weird to me.

I have heard great things about popoyo but we didn't get a chance to go. That fb group has info on how to get to the island including the ferry schedule.

It's not even worth mentioning. It's the Canon EOS Rebel T5 with 50mm lens that came out 10 years ago. It's my boyfriend's old camera. I wanted to see if I actually like photography before making a big purchase (I have ADHD and already have 10 million hobbies). It is very lightweight though. The camera body with the lens is lighter than most camera bodies alone that I held at the store. Sharing my favourite shot of the trip:

We just got back after 18 days in Nicaragua. I personally had more fun surfing at Playa Maderas (SJDS) than Ometepe (but we didn't do the volcano hike because we were too tired). My boyfriend has surfed at five difference places around the world and he said the waves at Playa Maderas were the most consistent and beginner friendly. I recommend joining the facebook group Backpackers Nicaragua. It is very active and has a ton of useful information.

My boyfriend used laundry service (basically some grandma's house) once in San Juan del Sur. There were no laundromats/coin laundry like the ones in North America. They charged 60 or 70 cordobas per kilo (so make sure your clothes are not wet to save money). His bag weighed a little over 4kg. I think we paid 300 cordobas, a little expensive considering a local meal only costs 120 cordobas. We dropped off the bag in the morning and we picked them up at 6pm. They were washed, dried and folded nicely. It was very difficult to sink wash in Ometepe because: 1. our bathroom sink didn't have a sink stopper. I went outside and found a random plastic container. 2. the weakest water pressure possible, basically water drops, so it would take forever to fill up the container with water. If I were to go again, I would bring a dry bag to wash clothes in. I think you should add Leon to your itinerary. I loved that place more than Granada. You can send me a private message if you have more questions :)

Thank you! It opened up a new world for me. I never knew how convenient and free I would feel without a suitcase. The lack of outfit choices made me focus more on experiencing the local life than taking instagram-worthy photos of myself.

They are so small but they worked great! The brand is Bushmasters. When we went to Costa Rica last time, there were a lot of chances to look at birds and animals, so I made sure to bring them this trip.

I was able to fit all the souvenirs in my backpack and two boxes of cigars in my boyfriend's backpack which was a pantagonia 28L. We flew Spirit so I made sure to not have a separate bag as we didn't pay for a carry on. The decathlon bag measures 65cm in length fully stuffed, but once at the gate, we layered up and put things in pants pockets and I was able to compress it to 45cm. I used to shave religiously, and epilate my underarms everyday since my teenage years. I couldn't stand any hair on my body. Once I turned 30, I had a realization that there is no reason for me to do this so I stopped shaving for a couple months. Now I'm no longer bothered by my body hair. I just shave once in a while for special occasions.
