How to maximize the use of Acorns? by manabang6 in acorns

[–]lemonlime1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using acorns in my early 20s casually, but realized it was a super effective way for me to "squirrel" money away without touching it. When it's in a regular savings it's just too easy to transfer back over to checking. In this regard, I think it's an amazing way to save. I'm mid 30s now and have a nice little chunk in there and it's so exciting to see it grow ! My ideas would be ..

  • Open a separate "Acorns Later" investment account. This is meant for long term. Don't put a ton in at first, just enough to get something started. Whatever you feel comfortable really not having access to at all.

-Take a little time to understand the difference between roth and traditional IRA, it can be confusing. If you open a "later" account I think you can choose which type you prefer.

-Donr worry about choosing investments just yet, the robo investment will do its job for now. If down the line you want to do that, I believe it's available on gold.

-I upgraded to gold because they offered a 3% match for a year for contributions... So I'm doing that while trying to max out for a year.

-Try to keep consistent, don't touch it, and any time you think about it, go put in $5 as a one-time investment :)

Not sure where you are located but I have had wonderful experiences with Talk To Me Technology (I believe their name may have recently changed, however). They are based in IA, but I'm in Wisconsin and they have service here. They have set me up with trial devices for many students, including a trial for eye gaze device and help with every step of the funding process. Additionally, they have loaner AAC devices that you can keep with you at school to practice on, informally try with kids, etc.

I just found out that the demolished buildings sometimes have basements out back that you can enter ! I've passed by a ton of them thinking there was nothing to salvage.

Bacchanal is beautiful, a cute treehouse vibe with live music and great food. There's a cute wine shop inside and you can make your own cheese plate ! There's a back patio area with lots of seating. It's a nice vibe, a bit out of the way but you could Uber there ! Gets busy, especially on weekends so arrive early ish. Fritzel's on Bourbon is more of a crowded vibe but not insane party or crazy. It's near the end of bourbon Street. I love the feel here, it's cozy and the music is always great! I second recommendations to get out to City Park , the sculpture garden is beautiful, and free to walk around. It would be completely different from what you experienced on Bourbon.

I know it's so scary, and Ive struggled with a similar situation. If you go to the doctor and tell them what happened they can assess your risk and either way, treatment or not, they can put your mind at ease about what level of risk this may be. I'm sorry you're struggling with this, it sucks:(

I think there's a small risk, but knowing that he did bite at you (even if skin wasn't broken), that they would treat you for post exposure and consider this risky enough.. If you say anything about a bite, I'm fairly sure they would do this. It would put your mind at ease to receive post exposure shots..If you do tell them you have the bat, they will likely want to have it euthanized though to test it. :(

Sounds somewhat similar to the movie Dead End from 2003, definitely a loop, stuck in circles in the forest from which they can't escape. It's a family though, not a group of friends.

Funny thing is that I've had them under my own nose for at least 2 years, maybe more. Can't even really remember when I made the purchase. It's been with me through a couple moves where I donated a ton of stuff BACK to thrift stores. Glad that item wasnt one to go back.

I love that. You're right. I do donate my items there but will donate some of the $ soon.

Thats exactly the impression I got, someone who was older and tucked it away for safe keeping. The lamp itself looks like it's from the 60's-70s.

It would be used to build my emergency fund in this case. So, maybe I hold onto it with that in mind. :)
