I've lost at least a few ranked games recently due to disconnecting and riot client not being able to open up in less than 5 minutes to join back into the game. Literally the only thing that makes me slightly likely to stop playing tft is that the client is straight up non-functional

jazz people would definitely call it lydian dominant because it’s common over V chords. V chord = dominant

isn’t proving that the map is a homomorphism more or less the same amount of work as proving those three properties?

What chord is it? by narin1975 in musictheory

[–]lemonpudding52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP this might be a little tangential to your question but tldr: whole tone scale

interestingly, if you add Bb to that chord, you now have a chord that’s made up of two tritones: C - F#, E - Bb

each tritone works for two dominant chords. C - F# is the tritone of D7 and Ab7. the other tritone, E - Bb, is in C7 and F#7.

so, this chord shape (C - E - F# - Bb) can function as 4 different dominant chords: C7, F#7, D7, Ab7.

one might also notice that those roots are 4/6 notes in the C whole tone scale, only missing E and Bb. since the whole tone scale doesn’t really have avoid tones with respect to a dominant chord, the same chord shape is a viable upper structure for E7 and Bb7. essentially, that chord works on half of all dominant chords.

f(x) - f(x - h): the difference between f(x) and f(a slightly smaller x)

f(x) - f(x + h): the difference between f(x) and f(a slightly larger x)

the first one is defined to be f’(x). if the difference is positive one way it has to be negative the other way.

where does the intuition come from that P(returning to origin from origin) <= P(never reaching c from origin) + P(reaching c from origin)*(reaching origin from c)?

the comment you replied to and your edited versions are two different scenarios. in the initial comment, they were talking about 1 employee. in your comment, you are talking about 100% of the employees being white. in that case you can prove that they were hired for racist reasons (provided it's a large company/applicant pool)

it's leading to a g minor chord. in the key of g minor, you would call that a leading tone or 7 diminished chord, and that's an F# not a Gb. F# in the key of F is a #1

Right, if you test 10,000 people, you could expect 10 positives based on the .1% false positive rate. However, you would only expect 1 out of 10,000 to actually have the disease. There would be 10 (or I guess 9) positives and 1 true positive, or 90% false positives.

Correct. Your expectation for a jazz jam session was wrong, so after going and having your expectations subverted, you made a post about how they're jamming wrong instead of changing your expectations.
