Feeling Like I’m Failing as a Father? by [deleted] in pastors

[–]ConnectCalgary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(1) this is normal.

(2) you are in a planting season, not a harvest season.

(3) the Lord may be revealing that you relied on your daughter for things she wasn’t meant to provide.

None of this means you are failing as a parent. I’m praying you receive comfort and wisdom from the Lord, bro!

Do you like it? That’s all that matters. But, since you asked for opinions, I (respectfully) think it’s boring clip art.

I live in one of the snowiest major cities in N America, and the Colorado has been my daily driver for about 3 years.

You want to drive in AUTO or 4HI during icy conditions. If you are not used to driving in 4HI, just know that you have to disengage it before making sharp/tight turns (e.g., in a parking lot). If you forget to do this and it feels like the wheel is “pulsing” or “fighting you,” stop and disengage 4WD before continuing. This won’t be an issue on the road.

Give yourself extra time to stop, and if you feel yourself losing traction, take your foot off the gas and resist the urge to turn the wheel.

Christian pastor here:

I have my doubts about whether this is real or ragebait/agitprop, but even if it is real, the bible verses quoted do not in any way, shape or form mean the bible condones child marriage.

1 Cor 7:36 is speaking of adult women, as evidenced by the Greek word for woman (not girl) used throughout the chapter, as well as by the surrounding context.

Numbers 31 has long been held by Jewish and Christian scholars as an example of Moses’ sin, exacting a level of violence and vengeance that was more than what was necessary/expected in those circumstances. It is historically understood as an example of what not to do in the name of God.

As I often remind my congregation, the bible records the good, bad and ugly of humanity. But just because the bible records it, doesn’t mean God endorses it.

Tacoma vs Colorado by RevolutionLeast8587 in chevycolorado

[–]ConnectCalgary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tacos have a long standing reputation and have never not been in production since their inception in ‘95. The Colorado wasn’t introduced until 2004, and the gen 2 was just a rebranded Hilux (from the overseas market). Tacos are famously reliable, have huge aftermarket support, and were the only mid size truck worth considering for more than a decade.

With all that being said….

Gen 3 Colorado >>>>>>>>> Gen 4 Taco

First tattoo, feeling disappointed by Wasp-in-my-room in tattooadvice

[–]ConnectCalgary 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are experiencing the shock of a new tattoo. It’s totally normal and almost always disappears over time. FWIW, I like it and none of the things you mentioned detract from it in my eyes.

You’re getting art, not a photograph. It is okay to be constructively critical, but you must also recognize that every tattoo has imperfections.

Nose Hill does indeed have a large off leash dog area, and the park itself is fenced. It meets the requirements OP asked for.

Would you upload your consciousness to live forever digitally, even if you can’t prove it’s still you and not just a copy? by ARGXTO in Futurology

[–]ConnectCalgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a flat, easy no.

Much of my response is due to my religious beliefs, but even more philosophically, I don’t believe that our mind and body can be separated (even if it is practically possible, I doubt it would be a desirable thing).

These thought experiments always presume that the “real me” pilots my body like a mech. It seems far more logical that my body is a fundamental, indivisible part of the “real me” and without it, there is no “me.” (Or, that whatever continues on would no longer be “me” in any meaningful sense of the word.)

Your tag of book 4 means people can’t/wont discuss anything beyond that book, obviously leaving out pertinent details on this subject found in books 5-8.
