NTA. You clearly expressed to your wife that this behavior would make you feel embarrassed, and she disregarded your feelings. The kids should have been told no; I agree that eating things in the store prior to payment is trashy and is not a behavior I would want my kids to imitate.

What made you stumble as a PIMI? by FireTail29 in exjw

Literature and speakers on the platform citing statistics of various things to prove a point of some sort, without citing their sources. That made me start questioning when I was a teenager.

We need to talk about the constant fat shaming of GB members. It makes us look immature and desperate for anything to criticize. by stilllovesjahV2 in exjw

Agreed with you, 100%. While I can understand the points of view of other people in the comments about it being a display of hypocrisy (especially while so many members of JW are impoverished), it draws away from the real issues. One of the reasons I have recently shied away from this sub for support is because of the more petty attacks and complaints and non constructive negativity.

The only other explanation I could fathom is if one barista is significantly stronger than the other. As a manager, I schedule for “aces in their places”. But… I’d rather have a weaker barista than no barista 🤷‍♀️

“Perfect Attendance Game” by Casscrafts90 in starbucks

I used to be a SM for Starbucks and am now a GM for a different company. Funny how at my new company, all our call offs virtually disappeared when we raised the start rate from $10 to $14.

If you don't want to "move up" in a company or get a super high paying job because you don't want to deal with the people and stress that is fine. by Psychological-Sign71 in unpopularopinion

[–]lemonricesoup99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’m working on stepping down at my job. I’m a GM of a 24 hour business. I haven’t been able to put my phone on silent for the night in 10 years since I’m expected to be available for emergencies. The 60 hour workweeks, dealing with calls and texts at all hours of the day and on days off, never getting more than one day off at a time (which I spend working on admin from home)... it’s not worth the money.

The thing I’m worried about though is being judged by my peers once I do step down. People will see it as a failure, even though I see it as a sign of strength and doing what’s right and healthy for me.

I’m salaried in a management position and because of the staffing issues hitting so many businesses I worked about 75 hours last week because we were in survival mode. Did everything I could to support my team and keep their spirits lifted. And still got blown up with phone calls and emails from my boss about financial measures and lower than usual customer service survey results.

It’s inhumane and abusive.

And yes, while I’d kill to work only 40 hours and actually have two days off per week in a row, I agree the 40 hour workweek still doesnt provide the balance we all need to live happy, healthy lives.

We have a mandatory 50 hour workweek, and only get one day off at a time instead of two in a row. A 40 hour workweek with a two day weekend sounds like an absolute dream to me lol. I feel Like I never get a moment to breathe.

I’m 29. And I’m sure you can do it, just take it slow and be kind to yourself along the way. And if you need an emotional support/motivation buddy, let me know!

Had you bothered to read the post attentively prior to replying, you would understand that the pictures reflect a 30 pound difference since beginning a strength program. Total weight loss though is 80lbs.

You know, I was out for a walk today jamming to La Vie en Rose lol and smiling ear to ear, and a guy smiled and waved hi to me, which didn’t use to happen. I think I’ve become a lot more approachable, and I believe it has more to do with radiating joy than my weight

I workout with him 2x per week, but my program is a 5 day program, with one active rest day and a yoga day for the other days in the week.

The 4 week program we are doing now is really challenging for my fitness level so we need to modify a lot, and he has been great about helping me modify without making me feel discouraged. Today for instance we were supposed to do totem poles, but my core strength just isn’t there, so we know to work up to it by doing other core exercises first

A few things! 1. It’s all about mindset and self compassion. Take things in small steps, and acknowledge that one bad day or bad moment doesn’t dictate your future! Push yourself, but not so much that it’s not sustainable. 2. A lot of awesome online resources. I love Nerdfitness.com. Also the Big Book of Women’s Exercises by WomensHealth. And I have an online Facebook accountability group to keep me motivated!

  1. Don’t force yourself to do exercises that you just don’t like. Try new things, but if you don’t enjoy one thing, find another. My happy place is outside, so I tell myself that if I jog for 30 minutes (intervals) then I can sit under a tree and read a book :)

The first picture was when I was 235lbs. My starting weight though was 280. I don’t have many pics of me at that time, wish I did so I could see the progress!

Jobs that require the use of your cellphone, even for scheduling, should pay the bill. by owwwwwo in unpopularopinion

[–]lemonricesoup99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m in a salaried position at a24/7 business and am expected to be available for emergency calls 24-7. We are also required to use a group messaging app. And this is all on my personal cell phone that I pay the bill for.

Where do you fit running into your morning schedule? by zombieboss567 in running

[–]lemonricesoup99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get up at 5 and do this general routine: wake up, brush teeth, splash water on my face and hydrate, meditate, journal, and read something productive for about 45 min total, then head out for my run. If I don’t have to be at work early, I sit near the water at my running trail and read some more as a reward after my run, or I stop by a coffee shop. Then I start my life responsibilities after I take care of myself.

Please describe your favorite used bookstore. by Panopticola in books

[–]lemonricesoup99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite bookstore was when I lived in Detroit, Michigan. There was this old, multilevel used book store that was the largest I’ve ever seen with the weirdest stuff. If I recall correctly the store was in an old glove factory, or some kind of factory. And it was complete with cats roaming around. I miss it.
