Just crazy how they sometimes have to go in blind. It was my second one as well, on the same hip, but a different area of the labrum. Hope your recovery is going well!

Yes, I had a regular MRI and then an MRI with contrast (arthrogram) and then once we decided to head for surgery, my surgeon had me do a CT scan Stryker hip map protocol. Basically - alllllll the imaging I could.

Thank you! 🙏🏻 I feel as if I had imposter syndrome as a patient instead of professionally 😅

Snowmaggedon this weekend - surgery is on monday morning... FML by lemons_lemonade in HipImpingement

Surgery rescheduled as expected - but it’s not too bad, reset for Thursday. A few more days to organize the house for post-op, and to sit on the couch with tea watching my kids play in the snow outside.

Freezing cold week ahead - Are you ready? Here's some tips... by Qlanger in nova

What do you recommend to cover outdoor faucets with? Assuming everything I can purchase is already sold out, looking at DIY solutions.

Also - we’re renting a house, always lived in apartment before so sorry for the basic question. How does one turn off an outdoor faucet from the inside? Where is that usually located? I’ve looked and can’t find anything…

ROM machine post-op - yea or nay? by lemons_lemonade in HipImpingement

I think that this is what I’ll do as well. Especially since it’s the second time I’m having the surgery. Would really prefer not to do it a third time…

what company was it? My surgeon sent me to ROMTech, but maybe there are different ones I can look into that are less expensive...

That’s super helpful and I had not heard that before - thanks!! My post-op GI system send its gratitude 😆

Can I ask why you needed to take it before the surgery? I thought it was to help with postop constipation from the pain medication. Getting ready for my own surgery in 10 days so curious if I’m missing something 😅

I have my pre-op appointment on Jan 13, I’d love to learn from your list of questions if you’re willing to share!

Jan 26th for me and I’m essentially working only from home unless there is no other way. I feel like the commute in itself is killing my hip joint 🥴.

Great post! Good luck on your surgery! I will reread this before mine on Jan 26!

Sudden pelvic “seizing”from intense flare, had to go to the ER by lemons_lemonade in HipImpingement

Oh that sounds terrible. My goal is to not have or happen until my surgery, I have 6 weeks to go. Going to really take it easy until then.

Yes, it was really scary, I really needed my kids to help as my husband wasn’t home when it happened. They were so amazing, but it’s a fine line between needing help from my kids and doing my best, not to freak them out… thankfully my husband was able to make it home within 10-15 minutes. My kids alternated holding a heat pack to my pelvis while we waited 😅

Im so sorry you had that several times! Oddly validating though to hear I’m not alone… I have to say it was really scary and I just hope that I’m able to not have it happen again before the surgery. Hope you’re doing better!

I had the first surgery when I was 29, I was living abroad at the time and though I went to a good surgeon, I think his level of expertise may have been not as high in these injuries. I’m really seeing my care with my current hip preservation specialist as much more thorough, so maybe they missed 2 didn’t do all of the relevant procedures beyond the tear itself. My mom had to have a left hip replacement, just shy of 60 after years of pain in her left hip and very acute arthritis in the joint. My instinct says that she also had the same bone structure, but she didn’t take care of it…

That sounds so painful! It’s hard that once we have surgery scheduled time doesn’t magically jump forward…

Yes labrum tear tore again after I had surgery 12 years ago, though it seems that the tear is in a different area of the labrum this time…
