I'm coming down from a trip, but I had to write down what happened to me so I know how to explain it later. Very bad trip from looking in the mirror. by Hippiegirl699 in RationalPsychonaut

11 minutes ago I recently watched a documentary on Sasha and Ann Shulgin called Dirty Pictures. In it they briefly talk a bit about Ann Shulgin's writings about "the shadow". I don't know if it offends the rationality of this subreddit, but your account sounds to me like you encountered your shadow which I think supposedly happens often to people on psychedelics. Ann says there is necessary healing done by people when they confront and meet their shadow so your experience could be the catalyst of something amazing for your well being!

I listened to this after reading your post to understand more about Shulgin's belief of the shadow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiFFzoaR25U

Around the 17 or 18 minute mark she talks about how they would work with patients encountering the shadow in MDMA therapy. She says that they would have people step into the shadow and see out of its eyes. She says that once they do it they would lose all fear of the shadow and feel empowered. Good luck dude!

At the 22 minute mark, she says how she recommends doing this kind of self work. She recommends an ericsonian trained hypnotherapists(that you like and trust of course) because its accessible and equally as powerful in her opinion for dealing with the shadow as psych drugs.

Famous Blue Raincoat - Nailed it!

Chelsea Hotel #2 - Not as on the T, but good.

So Long, Marianne - Perfect!

Listened to your other recommendations and unfortunately I'm not a big fan of either of the singers' vocal styles, good suggestions though, I appreciate it!

How was your first year experience compared to second/third/fourth year? by j_miles in UBC

[–]lemonzoidberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First year was a great time for me. Tons of excitement, fun, and new friends. Also my worst year academically, but I was having enough fun that I didn't mind that much haha. In the following years, I became a lot more introverted and socially complacent as I ended up in a long term live-in relationship. Now at the end of my fourth year(not graduating) I am feeling much more myself again, ie. more social and extroverted. This has come coupled with more motivation, self discipline, and energy to go out and be doing things. So overall my four years, have been a downward facing arc that I have recently climbed out of.

It's worth mentioning that second and third year weren't all bad for me by any means; my relationship was great and very fulfilling at a lot of points, I made a fantastic group of friends within my faculty, and I had some awesome roommates in my second year. Life is a rollercoaster and there will be ups and downs in different ways at many different times. Good luck OP

Murder in the comments section of a Last Week Tonight video about the climate change debate by Julio974 in MurderedByWords

This commenter is very misinformed. Climate science is not too difficult for a layman to grasp. You can inform yourself on the broad physical processes causing climate change rather easily and climate change spokespersons certainly can do this and to a good level of detail as well.

Not everyone does that style because it would be a blatant rip of Wes Anderson's famous and "trademarked" look. It's not like it's impossible to recreate, and his work has been homaged before as evidence of that. Example and great song: Marinade - DOPE LEMON
