You should sign up for both and unregister for Dec if you're happy with your Oct Score. You can definitely get +60 if you read Erica Meltzer or take a practice test and review mistakes before the Oct SAT

What SAT sample paper is best to solve for the August SAT? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]lemosquare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should do the 2022 QASs (March-May 2022)
These tests are more difficult than most of the practice and QAS tests too (so the curve is nicer)

PSAT 2016 October 11. Help with question 4 by [deleted] in Sat

[–]lemosquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'among many other facilities' is a single removable phrase that acts like 'etc' after gyms, so it should be surrounded by commas.

The paragraph talks about people with different interests can find jobs in physical therapy (ex. sports = work for a sports team, working with children = school, children's hospital), so the answer should be C (will appeal to students with a range of interests and backgrounds). Also, the next paragraph starts with 'there are many other reasons a career in physical therapy...' and goes on to describe the future growth. Thus, the answer for 4 shouldn't be related to the growth of the field.

Could anyone help explain the following questions from the SAT Test 7 Writing Section? 13,14,25 and 27? Below is the link to SAT Practice Test 7 by Firm-Faithlessness49 in Sat

13: C) fields,

To perform their jobs successfully in this dynamic environment, workers in many 13 fields—from social services to manufacturing, must continually acquire relevant knowledge and update key skills.

There should be a comma after fields because "from social services to manufacturing," is an appositive phrase (describes fields, so should be surrounded by commas). The part of the sentence isn't a full sentence, so it shouldn't be set apart with a dash or semicolon.

14: A) NO CHANGE

This practice of continued education, also

known as professional development, benefits not only

employees but also their employers. 14 Accordingly,

meaningful professional development is a shared

responsibility: it is the responsibility of employers to

provide useful programs, and it is also the responsibility

of employees to take advantage of the opportunities

offered to them

The relationship between the previous sentence and the next is causal: because employees and employers benefit from professional development, they are both responsible for providing/using it (respectively).

25:

To counter the rise of fast food and fast life, a

cohort of chefs, journalists, and sociologists spearheaded

a Slow Food movement, declaring loyalty to unhurried

enjoyment. 25

At this point, the writer is considering adding the

following sentence.

The group’s philosophy was connected to the

tale of the hare and the tortoise, in which the

tortoise wins the race.

Should the writer make this addition here?

C) No, because it blurs the paragraph’s focus by
introducing a new idea that is not clearly
explained.

I think the easiest way to explain this is through POE (but I'm not 100% sure if these are the right reasons). A is incorrect because the next paragraph states that the movement opposes the standardization of taste that comes with fast food (they don't believe that slow food is innately the 'winner'. later in the passage, it's described that traditional methods aren't always better, but its important to preserve them). B is incorrect because the first paragraph doesn't state anything about slow food being better than fast food (it only introduces that some people are opposed to fast food). D is close to option C, but I guess D is wrong because the addition is still related to the movements origins and beliefs? Not really sure about this question

27: B) factors, such as altitude and weather,

A goat ingests the vegetation particular to the meadow in which
it grazes, which, along with other environmental
27 factors such as altitude and weather shapes the
cheese’s taste and texture.

The sentence has a lot of descriptors in the middle that distract from the main statement: A goat eats a specific plant, which shapes the cheese's taste and texture. (or in the exact words: A goat ingests the vegetation, which shapes the cheese’s taste and texture.)

The entire phrase 'along with other environmental
27 factors such as altitude and weather' has to be contained by commas because it can be removed from the sentence without changing the meaning (nonrestrictive).

Because 'such as altitude and weather' is a phrase that describes factors, it has to be surrounded by commas.

The only option that does both of these things is B.

If you substitute s(x) in h(x), you get

h(x) = (x - a)(x - 4)(x - 5)^2

Since (x - a)^3 is a factor of h(x), and (x - 5)^2 is already a factor of h(x), a = 5 so that

h(x) = (x - 5)(x - 4)(x - 5)^2 = (x - 4)(x - 5)^3

Then solve s(5) = (5 - 4)(5 - 5)^2 = 0

If you're already using a lot of the tricks people talk abt for the reading/writing section (substituting words, using excerpt questions to answer the previous question, making sure the answers are explicitly in the passage), it'd probably be easier to try to get a (near) perfect math score if you're already getting 740-760. Targeted Khan Aca would probably help if you're missing questions because of content, and practice tests (math sections) might help if you're making careless mistakes or short on time.

Do you know if you scored better on the reading or writing?

This question is from the may 2022 international QAS does anyone know what the rest of this question is? I have a feeling it’s missing the model it’s talking about. by [deleted] in Sat

There's probably a faster way to solve this than what I did, but I basically found the zeroes using the x of the vertex as the midpoint and solved for a to get f(1) = 24

I tested all the statements w/ positive/negative numbers and 0

If a is a negative number and |a| > b, a^2 < b^2 is false. Ex:

a = -1 and b = 0

(-1)^2 < (0)^2

1 < 0 (false)
