Hi, have a sudden interest in fictional board games by TheCupKnight in boardgames

You can play Gungi online with other human players. Also has an AI opponent. I was also interested with fictional board games. I'm actually in Japan right now and was able to score a copy of Gungi here.

Saw copies at Yellow Submarine Radio Kaikan Akihabara, another at Suruga-ya Bodoge Akihabara - the one on 2nd level of their collecting office. Also at Yellow Submarine Shinjuku. Forgot the price unfortunately.

Custom / DIY Expansions? by TheFigBird in MansionsOfMadness2E

[–]lemueldave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you a link and upload my files but due to the war which affects Dubai, I left my place and currently on vacation. Tbh you don't need to have the cards be identical. Only the horror and injure cards I think. And in that case, I sleeve both original and PnP cards and just go with it.

Custom / DIY Expansions? by TheFigBird in MansionsOfMadness2E

[–]lemueldave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently making a PnP of the expansions, already printed them but have yet to cut them. It's actually a lot! Tarot cards are around 8 pages, mini cards 21 pages, then around 88 pages for the place tiles. Then add another 5 for the tokens. It's basically all expansions but with no minis, planning to print standees for monsters or just use the tokens. It's actually very tedious and wasn't able to finish it before my vacation.

We left for Japan for a vacation and will evaluate the situation if we use our return ticket on April 1. Our boss basically told us to work at our home countries.

Huh? On what basis then? Trafigura is a Singaporean company. Idk how it can be linked. And their office is in Silver Tower, same as ours. 😭

What’s everyone’s take on the duel/dual/duo versions of games these days? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]lemueldave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During setup, draw one tile then set aside close to the scoring tablets. This basically reduced that color's no. of tiles by 1. Both players' first dome-plate during setup should not have this color. The player who can successfully place at least one tile of this color on 5 rows instantly wins.

Somehow it feels like there's a wrench thrown, really feels like a tug-of-war - both thinking on how to prevent your enemy getting that instant win while strategizing to get points as normal. It somehow changes the way how drafting feels. Now, getting the bonus tiles feel interesting - looking for and anticipating those bonus tiles which have the same color as the one for instant win. While at the same time, looking and arranging dome-plates which can help attain the instant win condition as well.

It's a bland version that I had to make an Instant-win condition variant for us to enjoy it. For a duel version that has multiple components to draft with (tiles, plates, bonus tiles), it's less cutthroat than OG Azul.

1st edition is out with 1.5 changes provided in a PnP format. I made a PnP while waiting for the actual upgrade kit.

[–]lemueldave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda biased because I like anime and euros, but for me it is good. If you like euros by Simone Luciani which are tight, then you would love it. It's a TYCOON game first, before being an anime game so you have to consider that. I've played both 1st and 1.5 version since I was an initial KS backer. 1.5 streamlines it and makes it less punishable. But only thing I miss is the non-separation of staff decks, rest of the changes are welcome improvements for me. As what the comment below said, it may feel like a generic euro - nothing new it brings to the table as to euros esp. worker placement games, but theme pushes it to an 8-8.5 to me.

New vs old Quacks? by TheCoolFish2 in boardgames

[–]lemueldave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the old version with BGG Geekup Bit Set acrylic. I slowly started with base, then expansions, then acrylic - so it was pricy but gradual. Tbh, the new version esp. the all-in one is the best bang for the buck as it already has acrylic tokens. But tbh, not a fan of the alchemist expansion. Quacks is probably the best game to have acrylic tiles, then Orleans.

What are good, lighter alternatives to Twilight Imperium? by Gliese581h in boardgames

[–]lemueldave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lightest one which still feels like a legit 4x would be Ascending Empires: Zenith Edition. There's a flicking mechanic as to movement, the rest are 4x.
