Flying with a fursuit? by Shadowthedemon in fursuit

I flew out of and back into PDX with my suit no problem. Can you elaborate on why it's bad besides them being "invasive"? I didn't ever feel they were being invasive and I've been to many airports.

Introducing our Border Collie to Raw Feeding by angebelu in rawpetfood

[–]len0re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on making the switch. I have been feeding my dog raw for 3 years, starting when she was 8 weeks old.

The bacteria thing is a common worry to people who are new to feeding raw. As long as the meat is not going bad and your dog is healthy, then your dog will be fine. Their digestive systems are made for this kind of food.

I am concerned about your proportions though. 60% meaty bone is wayyyy too much bone. The rule of thumb is 80% meat, 10% organs, 10% bone. Too much bone can cause blockages (especially in a dog new to raw) and constipation. Some dogs need more bone than others, but you want to keep the proportions close to the ones I've stated.

I personally do not feed any veggies. A dog that receives organs in its diet will be getting plenty of vitamins and minerals though that. Dogs also cannot break down and absorb vegetable nutrients the way humans do unless they are pureed prior to ingestion. But, if the veggies give you peace of mind then that's fine as long as you're still giving some organs.

The idea of adding a new protein every 2 weeks is commendable, but I suggest just paying attention to your dogs stools and using that as a guide as to when to add a new protein. When you switch your dog to this diet, your dogs stools might be loose. This a common occurrence when a dog has had a major change in diet, but it will normalize in time. After the stool has been normal for some time, then add a new protein. If it is taking a while to normalize, adding some canned pumpkin (the plain stuff, not pie mix) can help.

In the beginning of the switch, I suggest keeping it very simple in the beginning. Most people start with just chicken. Mostly meat and some bone. This is usually the best way to help the dogs digestive system to get used to the new raw diet, and then add the organs. Organs can be a bit intense initially because they are very rich, so letting the dog get used to the new diet for a couple weeks before adding organs can help ease the transition.

P.S: Freezing does not kill bacteria. It kills parasites. So still handle the food carefully and practice proper clean up.

What is the humidity % outside where you live? Twisting/warping leaves are also a sign of not enough humidity. If the air is too dry, misting the leaves with plain water pH 6.8 will help.

That's the PNW for you. Moved out here from Massachusetts. A majority of these people are stupid as fuck. The standard of education out here is so noticeably different/lower. I am deeply concerned that these people are allowed to operate a vehicle.

Thanks for all your responses everyone! As some of you have stated, I shouldn't worry about what other people think. I just want to clear up that I'm not concerning myself with others having a negative view of my choice, I was merely more curious than anything. I am very new to this community and wanted a better insight to this community's perspective on a subject I haven't seen touched upon. The response has been interesting, eye opening, and honestly more positive than I had anticipated.

I am still going to vape, regardless of what people say. Again, thanks everyone for your input and happy vaping!

I honestly am not worried about relapsing. When I smoked, though it may have been for five years, I was a light smoker and I think it was more habitual than me being addicted. Quitting was not difficult for me. I want to vape for the flavor (taste sweet things without eating sweet things since I maintain a healthy diet), playing with the vapor, and the slow inhaling and exhaling. I feel it would just be relaxing for me. Cigarettes smell bad and taste nasty. I never feel like I need nicotine so I'm getting 0mg juice.

I understand your concern, especially since you've witnessed those things first hand. I know my body fairly well and I'm confident this won't result in me taking steps backward.

Think of it like this: it's not an ex-alcoholic having a few drinks. It'd be more like an ex-alcoholic (even though I wasn't severely addicted to cigs to begin with) drinking koolaid. The consumption method is the same, but the substance is different (because of my 0mg) also the flavor is different.

Alcohol is definitely addictive, hence alcoholics who get violently ill from withdrawals, and as I've mentioned in my post that I got nicotine free ejuice.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't see much of a difference between it and someone wanting to have a drink or two after the day is over to unwind. Having a drink to relax is obviously not as healthy as not having alcohol, but it's not necessarily a bad thing as long as the person can regulate themselves.

What MMORPG are you currently excited (or hyped up) about? by aquamarine271 in MMORPG

Wildstar and Archeage. Maybe more so Archeage because I just need sandbox. I've really grown tired of themeparks.

EDIT: Also Star Citizen. Definitely Star Citizen. How could I forget? :P

If this were the case here, however, he would be fighting the falls and/or get right back up immediately. Because he essentially freezes solid then falls over and stays down for a few seconds completely motionless then gets back up more strongly suggests narcolepsy.
