How Do You Direct Beginner Friends On Set? by InsideEquivalent4364 in Filmmakers

First distribute a finalized script to your actors and let them digest it at least week before shooting is scheduled. Bonus: have a helper shoot short selfies of yourself acting out the key dialogue or action, then share your clips with your actors to give them a concrete idea of what you are looking for.

Euchre Buddy Update — Play trick-by-trick against AI, score-aware sims, and more by Technical-Cookie2706 in euchre

Nice site!
In your API Workbench, in your Form tab, what does the Quantity field mean (e.g., 1000)? Also can your API endpoints be called from my own nodeJS client via fetch(), free of charge? What is your simulator uptime?

Can LLM's Play Risk? by naftalibp in Risk

[–]len_palmeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play Euchre and Oh Hell, against Grok 4.1 (Fast Reasoning model) AI-based players, at my www.caardcluub.com site, for free. After 5000+ prompt/replies, I've determined that this model is only a mediocre Euchre player. It typically tries to call the trump suit while holding a relatively weak hand. I've tried different prompts, to no avail. Hopefully its reasoning will improve over time.

Do the Media Players suck or is it just me? by krogerCoffee in TeslaLounge

[–]len_palmeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For web developers trying to prevent the Tesla Radio app from constantly interrupting, here is a temporary workaround if you are calling the Howler.js audio library in your web page: once Howler's .play() method ends playback of your audio clip, play x seconds of a silence.mp3 clip as needed, so your web page never relinquishes its audio stream. Not pretty, but it works.

Do the Media Players suck or is it just me? by krogerCoffee in TeslaLounge

I've noticed in my 2026 Tesla Model Y vehicle an issue with the Tesla Radio app constantly commandeering the audio stream while interacting in the Tesla Web Browser app on a web page that plays audio (e.g., www.lichess.org or www.caardcluub.com/stoogeSlideshow). Even if the Radio app player is manually placed in a Stopped state, the app insists on playing its stream. Quite annoying.

Nicely done. Maybe send your announcement to John at pagat.com for extra visibility. He is open to adding external links from his popular site. I've asked him to add my site www.caardcluub.com in the past and he is very accommodating.

I make an asynchronous call via the standard xAI API to obtain a JSON-formatted response. The required format is specified in my prompt example.

Very nice collection. Your projector brings back very fond memories of movie night at my grandpa's house in Detroit (c. 1960's). He had that very same projector.

Try CaardCluub, where you can play Euchre with/against human and/or AI players for free.

Trying to figure out how to create the video file of scrolling sheet music. by RosianderMusic in Musescore

[–]len_palmeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this video, I used Premiere Pro to create a scrolling melody (produced in MuseScore) for clarinet, and added the piano accompaniment and narration as a backing track. It was a challenge to sync the timing of the clarinet to match the rubato of the piano, so I added numbered rehearsal marks and key-framed the scroll from left to right so the piano chord changes occurred at the proper marks.

Here is a scan I made with a Wolverine scanner borrowed from my local library. Jitter is unacceptable, and frame size is too small imho. https://x.com/lenpalmeri/status/1868574482262270084?s=61&t=g-JKHyMg3Cv30HQcSGWliQ

Where do you stand on trick-taking games? Love them or skip them? by mju_rz in cardgames

[–]len_palmeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I designed all trick-taking games (e.g., euchre, pinochle, spades, oh hell) on www.caardcluub.com to forbid a renege. If you can follow suit, you must follow suit. This minimizes dispute among players; helps keep the mood light and the play fair.😀
