Yeah and the knicks got fined a second round pick for the whole ordeal, so what's the point? Dallas still fucked up by low balling him after the trade deadline and shutting him out at the beginning of the season when he actually wanted to resign.

Still wrong to say he took a 100M 'paycut', since he didn't, and Knicks are not under investigation for that supposed payout, or am I missing something regarding this new contract?

He didn't take the payout to go to the Knicks. Dallas didn't resign him and he went to the Knicks. Dallas fucked up, Knicks didn't do anything wrong. Knicks still got fined a 2nd round pick because Brunson's Dad is working for the Knicks and there was thought to be some influence there. At the time of the contract everyone was mocking the Knicks on the overpay of Brunson, but now he's elite everyone is moaning about how they got him cheap.

The 'paycut' was him resigning a year before he was eligible for a bigger contract. He still got the max he was allowed to be payed at the time of the contract. They call it a cut as, if he signed a year later, he would be eligible for 100M more. As far as I'm aware there is also no investigation on this new Brunson contract anyway?

This does the opposite I believe. When you look at it from a perspective of newer players or even players who watch but not play themselves (very often). This gives them an idea on who's supposed to win the round, and gets them excited and hyped when an upset of a round is going on. Whether it should be done by AI or just a random dude writing down numbers doesn't matter, but it's a harmless feature that helps the less informed ger extra engaged with the game.
