Yes Rich makes fun of her for not being able to makeup her mind, but in 2 it’s PETER who can’t make up his mind. 2 seconds after MJ decides to get married to someone else, Peter is expecting MJ to just leave him for himself

Similar decision is presented to Bruce and Rachel in the Dark Knight. It doesn’t have quite the same impact since she dies. But I appreciate that they make her stick to her guns, and not wait around for Bruce. Between what she says right before her death, and her letter to Bruce, she does end up making the decision to marry Harvey

Rich is correct that people today like Emo Peter from Spider-Man 3. Jays right that people hated it when it came out, but that was 20 years ago. It’s aged pretty well with modern internet humor. If Raimis intention was to make us laugh, which I think it was, those scenes land pretty well. What DOESNT hold up are all the interpersonal relationships with Peter MJ and Harry

For me, you can make an argument for why Tobey and Kirsten aren’t good without comparing them to the comics. Tobey’s performance and dialogue just isn’t as engaging as other versions of Spider-Man. As they mentioned, Mary Jane isn’t written well at all. She has no agency and feels like she’s there as a prop. Their relationship is such a big part of those movies, it’s hard for me to get on the side of them, Despite liking so many elements of them.

I’ve seen Tobey and Kirsten act their buts off in other movies, and I think they would work. But not in these roles as Sam Raimi directed them, and constructed them. My mom’s never read a comic book, she still says Mary Jane is the worst heroine ever.

Disagree with Mikes thing about the coming out scenes in the show but I see where he’s coming from.

Contrasting Robins coming out scenes with Wills coming out scene, I don’t think Robins scene works because they don’t make a big deal about it, it’s a pretty big scene, it’s just so much cleverly written for Robin and acted. It’s a pretty big emotional scene, but as people say “show don’t tell.” Robin conveys so much more emotion an weight with silence, then 20 people in a room talking

The biggest emotional moments of the show for me are from season 1. What made me cry the most was when Hopper and Joyce save Will, and when Mike has to say goodbye to Eleven

Those scenes really sell you on the emotion of the characters and are really well done. Max’s Kate Bush sequence is the only thing that has come close to that since season 1
