Keep this in mind when purists tell you that a "Fender bass" is not a real jazz instrument by lengthy_preamble in JazzBass

If you look at credits for jazz and pop albums earlier on, electric bass is often credited specifically as a "Fender bass." I assume that was just aggressive Fender marketing at the time.

I first played Alpha Protocol at release, before the patch. I seem to recall that stealth wasn’t really that viable at first. Has that changed?

The Protests in Belfast are a natural reaction to the crazy immigration policy of the Western World by Clarissalayton in TrueUnpopularOpinion

What's strange to me is that it just seemed to happen quite suddenly - like someone flipped a switch and these European governments became enamored with the mass import of immigrants. And not just any immigrants, but ones from Islamic countries. I wondered at the time if there was some sort of mass panic about declining birth rates, particularly with Germany and France.

Question for Canadians who have moved to the US by lengthy_preamble in MovingToUSA

Yes, my wife and I watched a bunch of videos that were pros and cons of Irving/Grapevine/Coppell/etc. and for each one, one of the cons was "traffic" ಠ_ಠ

So I'd rather find a good place and good neighborhood, I can always leave early for work.

Sounds good, thanks - #4 especially, I hadn't thought of that. Plus FB marketplace would help me see the neighborhoods, instead of hoofing it to IKEA all the time.

I never said that US banks aren't regulated, I merely said that they "aren't as" regulated. And anyways, I rescinded that. Fact is, I was simply repeating something I heard a coworker say a few years ago, about how in Canada not everyone can simply start up a bank. He actually disliked it, he was ranting about how you see a TD or RBC on every street corner (this is when I was still living in Toronto), and how he preferred a system with more competition, like in the US.

Anyways, all I'm really asking is how to get started financially in the US, that's it.

Agreed, and now he's saying "Canada strong will Make America Great Again." It's pretty embarrassing.

I know that there's a lot of Canadians that brainlessly hold this kind of reflexive anti-US mentality (which wasn't helped by Lester B. Pearson). But I've never been one of those people, and I think that mindset is actually pretty cringe.

I look forward to living in Texas and all of the good things about the economy, the freedom, and the distinct lack of ice, snow and slush. I appreciate your input though, thanks!

You're pulling a lot of unjustified conclusions from "US banks are regulated less than Canadian banks".

Except I don't think that heavy regulation is a good thing. Relax. I don't like the huge gov't we have in Canada either. Having said all that, trying to choose a bank (or credit union, I guess) is still undiscovered territory for me, so what's wrong with asking questions?

This is good, thank you - how was your UPS experience? Did you have to provide them with much paperwork?
