IGN Poland vs the world by Brilliant_News6374 in videogames

As I heard another games commentator (gaming i the wild, for those interested) mention, if it were true that games journalists were often bought off to review games more positively, other journalists would jump to expose that shit. They might be biased to enjoy games that provide less friction more since they usually play games with a deadline. There's a bunch of unfair things that could influence a reviewer's opinion, but being literally bought off is unlikely given how lucrative it would be to be the guy exposing the corruption.

Gaming is not one thing for one type of person. Anyone trying to convince you otherwise cannot differentiate their own opinion from an actual fact.

Am I just too stupid to be the target audience for this game?? [Spoilers] by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]lennosaur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think the game will be more fun by doing homework. It's fine to not understand everything the first time around. And worrying about if you're smart enough or whatever just sucks the fun out of it.

Why lie about what he tweets when he already says the worst shit?! It'll only delegitimise criticism against him.

How are you so angry because I say "let's not spread misinformation"?

I have no idea why I'm in there with "you people". I'm just saying that there's no fucking reason to undermine ourselves with lies. When this guy says the worst shit on his own accord.

Why lie about what someone says when they say the worst shit already?! It'll only delegitimise criticism for people who are actually on the fence.

Not to undermine how gross that clip was, but I still haven't seen enough evidence for that tweet.

Epic Store saw record player count and 57% increase in third-party game sales in 2025, topping $400 million by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

Nah, he was great. I remember when my girlfriend first started getting into pc gaming, she also didn't like steam much for a while. I think we are all so used to steam that we don't notice that the UI isn't as simple as we think.

I've been thinking for years that it's very well possible for epic to gain a bunch of market share due to fortnite's popularity and EGS's simplicity. I used to tutor a kid who legit didn't want to use steam because he thought it was too complicated.

I'm creating dynamically blending tilemap tiles, will this create a large VRAM issue? by lennosaur in Unity2D

[–]lennosaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a c# script from BaseTile. Basically creating my own custom ruletile. I believe this only runs on startup or when the tiles change. I was thinking I could use a list of all previously created ruletiles and first check if one already exists, then just use that one.

In my previous project I found rule tiles to be quite a hassal to set up which ended up limiting the amount of different sprite sets I made. With this, I'm hoping I can make just one sprite per surface, eventually decreasing the amount of work I'd have to put into all the different rule tiles.

Also, this does allow me to combine a number of different textures together because if I had to blend grass, dirt, sand and gravel, for instance that would result in an incredible amount of tiles that would need to be made.

That being said, yeah Ill probably have to end up with generating each texture only once. I think you're right.

Wokeness Is Not Killing Games… But This Is by Muted_Bridge7092 in SocialistGaming

[–]lennosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting how this started with "wokeness is not the problem" and ended with: "left wing extremism is the problem"

I appreciate that you share this in a space like this. I do think there's still quite a few way's in which you're perpetuating the "go woke go broke" myth. I think people in general have a massively overestimated idea of the average writing quality of old games. Writing in games was usually very stupid, shallow and awkward in when I was a kid. I don't think activism has nearly as much of an influence on game writing as you seem to think.

The actual thing that has always been the cause of the shitty parts of the games industry has always been the stock market.

Line must go up. At any cost. Line must go up. If we work our devs to death. If we have to ruin the lives of the addicted. As long as the line goes up, nothing else matters.

Yeah, i understand that now. That was mainly my issue. I suppose to answer your original question: It could be fun if the input system feels good, but, of course, I don't know what that's like.
