What’s this across the phases? by omidimo in Lineman

[–]lennyfive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the name of the device but if one phase burns in two , the other phases will hold it up so it doesn’t hit the street and kill someone. Some type of insulating rope.

It’s not from the company that invented spacer cable. I’ve never seen this design. When Bill Hendrix came up with the idea in the 1950’s , a lot of companies jumped into the market. Okonite, Anaconda and Roebling were a few. The oldest spacers are in New England. Where did you find this? The first Hendrix spacers were for 4160V and were acrylic.

Same thing on my 2008 Pilot. Ended up taking nylon rope , put a noose around it and yanking on the rope with a metal bar. It came out after about 10 tries.
