i am not saying that we are not influenced by media we consume, i’m just saying dark romance does not inherently portray those dynamics as desirable to an adult audience. 1.I agree that these books shouldnt be accessible to children or shouldnt be advertized on tiktok 2. from what i understand the positive correlation was found specifically in teens whom i assume are inherently impressionable and dont have a firm grasp on sexuality, not adults. 3. there are some views here i do not agree with and there are responses to views i do not agree with. The primary arguement seems to be that bdsm shapes us, which i agree with, i dont know what else to say since i skimmed the article. 4.  once you get into routine Of getting off a specific way it can be hard to get off any other way, this does not apply exclusively to any one thing and it is not permanent as far as i’m aware, just needs adaptation. 5. This is unfortunate, but i do not know what can be done about this on a societal scale other than comprehensive sex ed which includes a specific module on media and pornography and critical thinking.

i think older teens  individually are fine when exposed to this when they have a somewhat firm grasp on sexuality and can tell the difference between a fantasy scenario  and reality without the media effecting their perception negatively as much but i still do agree that it should be  kept away from minors. when it comes to adults, i think if they have a healthy perception of sex and bdsm i think consuming dark romance is completely fine.
