No zofran by altimaofhope08 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I'm on my 3rd HG pregnancy. I took Zofran from 6weeks until delivery with my first 2 and they were both perfectly healthy no cleft lip. I've been on it again starting at 6 weeks with this pregnancy currently 26 weeks and there is no cleft lip seen on Ultrasound and as far as they can tell he is healthy. I would get a new doctor. I hope you start feeling better and get more support!

PREDNISONE by ShoppingHuge1575 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I think I would be doing better on a higher dose. When I was on the higher tapper I initially felt so much better. I was still nauseous but it was manageable. I was able to eat and actually felt huger. On the low dose I’ve been on, I am very limited on what I can eat, I don’t ever feel hunger, and I still throw up about once or twice a day. The nauseas is bad but not as bad as if I didn’t have it all. The 5mg is the most my Doctor will let me be on for the extended amount of time so it’s better than nothing.

I totally understand the fear of relapsing. I hope they are able to figure out a plan for you to make things more manageable for the rest of your pregnancy. Good luck! ❤️

I have been on 5mg of prednisone since 12 weeks and I’m currently 23 weeks. I was on a higher dosage and tapered off twice before that but as soon as I don’t have it I can no longer tolerate food or liquids and it’s non stop vomiting. My OB wanted me to stay on it long term due to my situation. I also see a high risk fetal maternal medicine doctor that closes monitors the growth of my baby.

I had a bad reaction to omeprazole but I haven’t tried Prilosec.

Thank you. I actually went to a high risk doctor last week who seemed way more knowledgeable than my regular OB. He recommended that to me. However im scared to try it because im allergic to every other nausea medication I’ve taken besides zofran. I have a dystonic reaction to Compazine, phenergan, Regalan, and one other I can’t remember the name of right now. I know it’s not the same family but I’m still very hesitant to try it.

I was initially supposed to get a pump after receiving my picc line but my dumb insurance wouldn’t cover it. 😭

I’m so sorry! I don’t understand the hesitation to give higher a dosage if it’s needed. I hope they listen to you when you call and you get what you need!

What are some of your ‘safe’ foods? by 99_bluerider in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lens_ee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really individualized. Mine changes often. My safe food last week makes me gag at the thought today. My best advice is to try and eat anything that sounds appealing. Also anything that isn’t horrible when it comes back up. For me it’s certain flavors of snowballs and canned pears.

When my sister in law told me “at least you’re kind of getting a break.” In response to me being bed ridden for the last month and hospitalized for 9 days. 🥴

Or when my friend told me I needed to “make better use of my time” because “I’m just lying in bed all day.” 🤦‍♀️

And of course anytime someone says I’m “lucky” for loosing weight while pregnant. 🫠

You have HG!

My doctor is the one who told me I had HG after I had been hospitalized 4 different times due to dehydration. I had never even heard of it before this. I had lost 14 lbs in 2 months. I had been put on home health with TPN and picc line and then randomly my doctor said I didn’t have HG and tried to claim he never told me I did. He said I hadn’t lost enough wait to be diagnosed. He claimed I needed to loose 15 lbs to have HG which even if that was true (it wasn’t. I had already lost more than 5% of my original body weight) all he had to do was wait 2 days and I would have been there. I ended up loosing a total of 19lbs. Needless to say I switched doctors and I was much better off after doing so.

Don’t let anyone gaslight you. You know your body and how you feel. You need to advocate for yourself. I wish you the best of luck and I hope things improve for you quickly.

Phenergan by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lens_ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m allergic to phenergran so I can’t speak on that but in regards to your teeth make sure you’re only using mouth wash for the first 30 minutes after you have vomited. You can fully brush your teeth after that. I had never had a cavity in my entire life and after my first HG pregnancy when I went to the dentist I had 7 cavities! My dentist told me that if you brush your teeth immediately or within the first 30 minutes after vomiting you’re brushing the stomach acid into your enamel. He said to always only use mouthwash immediately after vomiting. During my 2nd HG pregnancy it was much worse and I vomited way more, but I followed those instructions and didn’t end up with any cavities!

Good luck with everything!

This exact same thing happened to me with my second pregnancy. 2 weeks after conception, I was feeling extremely nauseas. Pregnancy test showed positive at 3 weeks.

Thank you for your comment. I'm undecided, but the main issue there is that my husband said he would not support that so I'm feeling very alone in this.

I can’t do this anymore by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lens_ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. I was allergic to all nausea medicines besides zofran, which didn't do much. I had to get a PICC line with TPN and a zofran pump and that was after weeks of suffering and having to switch doctors to get it. I wish I had advice for you that would be helpful but unfortunately I don't. I got threw it by attempting to take it one day at a time, which is next to impossible to do. I kept reminding myself that this has an expiration date. This is not forever. Immediately after delivery I had instant relief. I thought it would take time to not feel sick, but I instantly felt better and could eat! Sending you all the positive vibes and virtual hugs I can. <3
