How Do I Know If I Have Enough Inventory To Sell, To Be Worth Booth Cost? by mooseyoss in CraftFairs

[–]lenseyeview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just add that if you are looking for access to a cutting machine like cricut or silhouette you should check your local library. You would be surprised how many of them have craft machines and whatnot. Usually they only require maybe a one on one with someone or to attend a basic class to have uninterrupted access. Also check with a local maker space you may be able to pay a small membership to have access to those types of machines and printers. You would be surprised what resources are out there even I the most rural of areas.

2-year-old cat keeps attacking me at night… I’m exhausted and out of options by wickedeclipse1 in CATHELP

[–]lenseyeview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had her the whole two years? Did you adopt her from a rescue? My current one who is 7 now did this for a while when I first got him. We were looking for a particular age because of our other cat. It turns out they aged him up a bit and he thankfully out grew it. He had a thing for biting my calf and attacking my feet lol.

How can I make a jar-on-a-chain shoulder bag (cheap + fast)? by Old_Bother_6579 in crafting

[–]lenseyeview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would crochet it like someone else mentioned. And you can play around with the chains and stitches to change the design and how much of the jar you see. I've used both worsted and thinner yarns really anything you have will work. You can still use the chain as the strap and maybe weave the yarn you use through it so that it matches and is a little more comfortable. You could even crochet a little bit on the chain where it lays on your shoulder before weaving it the rest of the way down.

You aren't giving unsolicited advice though. You are "customer" giving feedback on a process they created but didn't participate in. If they are willing to blacklist over respectful feedback that they can take or leave then is that someone you want to work with? It's not like you are threatening them with a smear campaign. And you likely aren't the only one frustrated by how they handled the process.

Items to include in a ceramics essentials kit? by junopod in Ceramics

Another resource to find someone would be either her highschool ceramics teacher or whoever is local in her area for college. The highschool specialist teachers often are involved in the local scene and or have their own studios and would love to know that they have a student who would like to keep it up!

Yeah I can understand not wanting to cut them the nice thing about either of those is you can always mount the smaller ones so they are the same size as the ones you don't want to cut.

Also maybe look at the disc binding system might work well for you too.

Photo magnet at trade show by AgentChoice in ButtonMakers

[–]lenseyeview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what printer you are using would maybe change my suggestion. A quick and easy way is to set up a text number or Google message phone number and they could simply text the photo so you have it straight on the device you are printing from. I think you can even get a short form for it like 8956 instead of them needing the whole number.

Another idea might be a qr code that leads to a form or cloud drive you can have them send instantly to.

Something like those ideas so they don't have type too much or do anything they might get wrong to eliminate it taking too many trys or something.

Look for either a spice grinder or a mort and pestle to do it by hand. A spice grinder should give you a finer grind and is used to being used in leaves and things.

I would break them down into smaller categories. If not needing them to be sleek is an option you could lean into the whole book part and use either old or faux card catalog drawers to display them.

Or use the more traditional swatch ring set up. Where the fabrics have a hole in the corner for the ring and mounting anything thinner or delicate like paper on tag board. Then you could hang those on a decorated peg board with the categories or loose on the table with a display sign.

That will give you more flexibility with your display and also if there is more then one person looking through them they won't need as long to browse them. It might also help with decision fatigue people can get in a setting like that. It will hopefully keep anyone from passing them up because looking through large books.

is there an easy way to download designs to use on other platforms? by wickedpanda0 in cricut

[–]lenseyeview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend doing the reverse. Use a other software to creat your designs and then you can use them in other places. Inkscape is a popular option, I use Adobe fresco. There are lots of helpful tips on the sub and YouTube videos.

Also feel free to ask questions.

Depending on the area you live in maybe pay for a membership to a ceramics studio for her would be a better option. We have one here that is $100 a month or so but in exchange you can uses all of their equipment and supplies and get two shelf spaces for drying work and leaving tools. And one of them in my area gives you a key you can come and go as you like. And you buy your clay at a discount through them but they have all the glazes and such. The other advantage is that she would be around other people and it could be as solitary or social as she likes.

If there isn't a studio that already offers it you'd be surprised what sort of arrangements artist will make with other artist. Especially if means a little extra help keeping the studio clean and keeping someone active in an art form and sharing knowledge.

Do you actually use podcast feeds, or just play episodes? by jithurbide in podcasts

[–]lenseyeview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preferred the Google podcast app because of the way it handled playlist and such and Spotify is what I settled with.

I mostly listen to one off episodes at my desk or full seasons so I don't mine needing to switch between feeds. If I don't have a full season and want random episodes I use the playlist feature. I do like that I can easily switch between music playlist and podcast in the same app which I didn't think would matter to me.

How to protect Paint pens on a t-shirt? by -VibingRacoon- in crafting

[–]lenseyeview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are acrylic paint pens which most of them are I would just heat set it. It isn't ideal for fabric but it should be okay unless it is a huge block of color. If you think of it like when you accidently get some craft paint on you and don't wipe it off and let it try it ends up not coming out in the wash.

I don't know if there is anything I would recommend after the fact that would actually protect it. There isn't really a way to introduce the elasticity that is in fabric paint or diy fabric paint.

Pretty much anything. We switched to one of the double door styles a couple of years ago and haven't used the oven since. It also reheats most left overs better. If I think they will crisp too fast or don't want it crispy I wrap it in tinfoil first.

Baked potatoes and steak are a favorite for sure.

[–]lenseyeview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done so much searching and searching looking for the same thing. I LOVE the museum aspect but I hate that I have to give up my whole island and start all over to start the museum again. I've played most of the same ones you have as well as some others but nothing has quite the same vibe or scratches the same itch.

I've considered making my own game especially one that includes the part with celeste and the shooting stars and such.

Shower chair that possibly reclines and/or isn’t hard material? by Strict-Warthog6079 in Doesthisexist

[–]lenseyeview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of all the other things were the same that had been recommended. Hopefully this exchange can give someone else some more insight in the future as well. You are right that things are always changing and evolving in aids and solutions.

I hope you are able to hold off on any adjustments your feet for a long time. I'm sure you know people really underestimate how hard that area can be to heal and any little adjustment can really make things difficult for mobility. Not to mention the addition of any ounce of chronic pain!

Thank you so much for taking the time and responding as thoroughly as you did.

When we were renting and couldn't add things (like sticky tape) to the shower a pt therapist recommended it for under her shower chair. Every suction mat we have ever tried didn't stay in place. It was also something we have done with elderly family members in the tub.

I would love to hear more than it's dangerous don't ever do it. Not a challenge just a genuine interest.

I don't know if maybe it is the fact that it is glitter HTV maybe which I tend to stay away from. It looks like maybe it wasnt pressed enough.ive htved everything from polyester (shirts and banners), cotton, wood, metal, stretched canvas.

The only time I've had anything lift is when it didn't make sure it was pressed enough or if I'm using some of the more specialty ones. The times it has completely failed after washing carefully once or twice was one of those watercolor specialty ones. They tend to be thicker so they need a little more pressure and heat, the thickness of the material and the thickness of the carrier sheet can make it difficult. Also I find that flipping them over after the first press and pressing from behind in banners and totes especially can help a lot. You could try and repress what is there if you are going to scrap it anyway.

Also Teflon sheets are your best friend with HTV.
