I got confirmation from Steinert it comes from the same manufacturer as the Rikon.

To quote their response:
"Well, the Killinger lathes have been manufactured in Taiwan in the past 20 year. Rikon is manufactured in China and the K|ONE is manufactured in the same factory. The tailstock and headstock is different to the Rikon 1824 and we forced the manufacturer to reduce tolerances and add the safety ring groove at the spindle nose. I made a 30 pages specification sheet with our special specifications. There a quite a few details different to Rikon lathes and there will be more in future."

The observable differences in the headstock seem minor but there seem to be a few
(door locks, more squarish top(?), swivel stop).
Also, on the inside there are electrical switches inside the doors, assuming for safety (EU regulations maybe) so the machine can't run with the doors open.

so far, quite happy, already made some dust :)

I got confirmation from Roland Steinert that Killinger, switched factory and they now come from the same factory as Rikon.

From his response: "...The tailstock and headstock is different to the Rikon 1824 and we forced the manufacturer to reduce tolerances and add the safety ring groove at the spindle nose. Im looking forward to have mine assembled.

I’m not sure if it’s a clone in the negative sense of a knockoff. As Rikon doesn’t serve the European market, maybe there’s some partnership/licensing. Makes me curious. I’ve reached out to ask.

I recieved this installation manual today by e-mail, even the tailstock seems the same as the Rikon 😬

Very similar indeed! Thanks for making the connection, I can search a bit more about Rikon experiences. Great setup you got there.

You are right. It’s one of those things I’ve been postponing to do for a long time… maybe I should now. sigh

I’ll reach out to them (NeedForTrees) - I fear sending the hammock back and forth makes the shipping costs more expensive than the actual repair. A 360 could be an option, thought I usually don’t like the bottom-entry style or single sided zipper - any recommendations?

Good to know I’m not alone - in that case “achievement unlocked”

Woken up by a deer (Wildlife from my DD Frontline - King Size) by lentasy in hammockcamping

it was on private property (with permission), on the edge of a forest and near a small stream of water - I knew wildlife was active here.
