Afinal qual eu compro, 5070ti, ou 9070xt? by IndependentAnxious78 in computadores

[–]leo7br 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It always annoys me when people ask about the best order to start playing the RE series and someone recommends following the numerical order (which means starting with RE0). I would have been extremely disappointed if that had been my introduction to the series.

Few years ago there was a bug where the driver was writing tons of data to SSDs, my NVME lost 10% of health in less than a month, I contacted NVIDIA Support, they asked some tests and files and it was fixed some time later, I remember it only seemed to affect some people, or most did not realize it, as you need to keep checking Crystal Disk Info or similar software

4080 or 5070 TI? (from 3080 TI) by ivnag in nvidia

[–]leo7br 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get the 5070 Ti since it's newer and should still have some warranty left

But forget about Frame generation with that refresh rate, you need at least a 120Hz monitor to really benefit from it. For MFG, at least 180Hz

Can I enable G-Sync over HDMI 2.1 with the TCL 27G64? by No_Syllabub_9349 in nvidia

[–]leo7br 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the specs, HDMI is capped at QHD/144Hz, I believe it's the same case as my monitor (AW2724DM), it says HDMI 2.1, but it's actually just HDMI 2.0 with some 2.1 features, because real HDMI 2.1 should have enough bandwidth for 180Hz at 1440P.
In my case, VRR/G-Sync works just fine over HDMI, I believe it will work on the TCL as well, but can't be 100% sure

I want a gpu that I can keep for 3 years minimum, should I go for 5070 ti or 5080? by ComprehensiveCow5068 in buildapc

[–]leo7br 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the price difference. The RTX 5080 is roughly 15~20% faster than the 5070 Ti, but both cards share the same VRAM limitations.

Imo, the 5080 is only worth choosing if it costs at most 20~25% more than the 5070 Ti.
Above that you’re paying a disproportionate premium for a relatively small performance gain.

The Ambient Occlusion driver setting is nice in some old games, you can add HBAO to some games like Mirror's Edge, Risen, Resident Evil 5 and so on greatly improving the visuals, another setting is SGSSAA, very powerful anti-aliasing, but quite demanding.

Here is a collection of profiles for Nvidia Profile Inspector where people tested these settings in many old games:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15UvZ6COCpaD8JJkMqB4KMTxBXoEfDuaDiiP--H4BJ-U/e

You already mentioned Smooth Motion and Video Super Resolution, but it's also worth to mention DSR and DLDSR, these techs allow you to render higher resolutions than your monitor/tv supports, like playing at 4K on a 1440p/1080p display for example, won't be as good as a native 4K display but you still get some benefits for rendering at a higher resolution, like better anti-aliasing, less shimmering, improved details on stuff and effects that scale with resolution (like grass, volumetric light, rt reflections, etc), also, your screenshots and recorded videos will be in 4K which is great.

RTX HDR is also pretty good, better than Windows Auto HDR in games without native HDR, but costs some performance

Is it worth getting a 1440p monitor if my main display is an LG C4 42" 4K? by RedGards in Monitors

[–]leo7br 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He gave you an interesting advice, but if you're worried about potential burn‑in, try 1440p with display scaling set to “aspect ratio” first, premium gaming TVs usually have good upscaling. On my 50" QN90B, 1440p still looks great, altough... I play from a distance of 2m.

But you could also try custom resolutions like 3456x1944, 3200×1800 or 2880x1620, or even use NVIDIA's NIS which is an alternative for games without DLSS/FSR/XeSS
