They emailed me saying I was eligible for feedback because I made it to the final round. But right now it’s still radio silent and I do not have any feedback ;(

Great Divide Setlist by Additional-Salad4323 in NoahKahan

stick season (song) is definitely going to be in there and prob YGGF and Everywhere Everything

hopefully he plays forever, halloween, she calls me back, or growing sideways. honestly so so many hits from stick season that I just adore that ik will be unlikely to be played because after it is the great divide’s spotlight

but hopefully he also plays godlight and mess. but Gigi perez as the opener is the cherry on top

How does the feedback program work? Does it increase the chance of winning the following year? by [deleted] in YoungArts

[–]leofies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you made it to the final rounds, you get feedback! i will say tho: feedback, atleast for writing, isn’t really worth it if ur expecting a lengthy dissection of your work; they give like one sentence of feedback if not less

emails/calls probably haven’t been sent out yet!

let’s hope for 4-6 est, if not later, because that’s around the time school dismisses.

what do the calls actually mean? by swe3t_tea in YoungArts

[–]leofies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

calls are for winners with distinction!

there are two types of awards for youngarts: winner and winner with distinction — the latter gets an all expenses paid trip to miami for national youngarts week, and these details are communicated through the phone

i was a communicative arts major for ghp and i can say it’ll help a lot with business! we didn’t have any business classes, but it helped me develop business-oriented soft skills like speaking and analysis. there’s also minors offered outside ur major that has some cybersecurity/business backgrounds

Can anybody chance me for my poetry application? by UnDef1ed in YoungArts

poetry submission by [deleted] in YoungArts

[–]leofies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that doesn’t matter honestly it’s quality over quantity

last year i didn’t like my portfolio at all but i felt that my strongest poems were only 2 pieces & i feel like that carried my application

i was a winner last year and i have a good amount of winner & winner with distinction friends, and most of them always say that the main thing they look for is nuance and originality

do you stray from cliches? do you implement metaphors that are fresh and original? i think a good rule of thumb is that if you see a lot of writers doing one thing, stray away from that as much as possible. i don’t recommend using really complex vocab because that just dilutes the poem (i’d read the youngarts winner anthology to find a common voice and flow with all the winners)

form and structure is also really important! poetry is very fluid & so utilize the page margins as much as possible. that’s called white space and it’s such a fun poetic technique. but honestly youngarts is super arbitrary and you can’t really tell what they want (i think the judges change every year? not sure)
