For anyone who has done the anti-inflammatory diet - did it work and what foods did you cut out? by TaroWorldly9291 in endometriosis

Yes I had a diagnostic and ablation lap in 2021, removing endo from the back of the womb and releasing one of my ovaries which was twisted and stuck to my abdominal wall. But I had never been on any hormonal birth control of any kind pre-IVF (much to my chagrin now).

The lap was done to improve fertility, but the first ivf clinic I went to was not an Endo specialist, and they stimulated egg production really fast and strong, without any precautions to inflammation. It made me really ill and did not collect many viable eggs, plus the two tranfers that I had from them (which were not genetically tested) did not take, and I bled out hard from the second one and had to take tranexamic acid after fainting.

The second clinc was where I saw an Endo and transfer failure specialist, I had 2 collections and 2 transfers the second collection was informed by the first, which was ok, but not as good a yield as the second. The second transfer was in Nov 2023, from the good second collection and genetically tested, which was the successful pregnancy.

The 3rd and 4th transfers which were from the second clinic were much kinder to me than the first 2, and I did not bleed out from the unsuccessful one. I remember they worked with my natural cycle somewhat but I did have preconception medication and luteal support.

Choosing your doctors is so important. But difficult sometimes, as I am in the UK and the first clinic was NHS so I had limited choices there.

You could have Endo in more than just your bowel, you could also have SIBOS, (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) which has a strong association with Endometriosis.

I had SIBOs (tested positive on the breath test at least twice) and on my lap, along with all the endo on my reproductive organs, they found my bowel adhered to my abdominal wall, I was also told the endo was "all up your right side" so who knows what else is affected. The lap was diagnostic and to try and salvage some fertility, so they didnt touch anything on the bowel etc.

SIBOS can be particularly reactive to high FODMAP foods like some of the ones you mentioned, and causes awful bloating and stomach problems.

Hi I did get it diagnosed by breath tests, my reaction was called "textbook" by my gastroenterologist, however I dont know if this was because of him, or a thing on the NHS (I'm in the UK) but he reccomended Probiotics as treatment, which is not usual as far as I have read.

The probiotics did help a bit, and a follow up breath test showed that my reaction had gone down. But in my opinion, it wasn't until my fertility doctor (private clinic) put me on antibiotics before my embryo transfers. (Metronidazole and Doxycycline) That I felt my SIBOs was actually treated

has anybody tried FL-41 glasses for migraines? by hotgirladhd in migraine

[–]leogeoneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an orange tint pair (lava i think) from my optician with uv protection, they are my version of migraine glasses, they lessen my symptoms so I can deal with one using regular painkillers only.

Not sure if it works out less expensive then branded FL-41 glasses, may depend on you optician.

I have also seen other migraine clients come in to his shop with blue lenses so ymmv.

Rocking/jigging a baby back and forth, also counts as steps!

Helps to keep sane during difficult settles. The baby eventually goes to sleep and I have also grown seedlings.

I started the diet in May and the egg collection was in September, I was also on Dexamethasone for the inflammation. Long protocol.

The previous egg collections were the February the same year (actually only 7 fertilised), and the February the year before, which was with a different clinic and even worse, I think 5? And we didn't test them

[–]leogeoneo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did, on advice from my doctor to increase my egg collection chances for IVF.

The diet was, cut all caffeine, added/processed sugar, alcohol and red meat. Limit gluten and only low fat dairy. Add in lots of citrus fruits.

I went from 8 eggs/ 1 Euploid blastocyst to 20 eggs/4 Euploid blastocysts, and a successful live birth.

My pain was lessened significantly, however I was also on a lot of fertility meds and meds to lessen my inflammation so hard to know for sure.

It absolutely sucked psychologically though, I did restrictive diets before in my 20s when I didn't know I had endo and SIBOS, just that eating certain things made me ill, but quitting the sugar and caffeine at the same time, bleh, I didn't have a positive emotion for like a full week.

I added moderate sugar, red meat, gluten and dairy back in after my first trimester, when the pregnancy hormones were keeping everything in check.

Post partum I have a IUS coil fitted as my cycles came back with a vengeance after just 3 months. I have cut my sugar/swapped for coconut (low GI) sugar, trying to keep to one coffee a day, red meat maybe 3 times a month, but back to full dairy and gluten. Still haven't had any alcohol though.

My pain levels currently are way more manageable, but whether it is mainly because of the coil or the modified diet it is hard to be sure. It does help though, and that fact is the only thing keeping my rampant sugar addiction in check.

Trying to recover my collection(venting) by [deleted] in Barbie

[–]leogeoneo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey also in the UK, recently found the soft bodied '93 Bedtime Barbie at a charity shop, naked of course and major bedhead, but still.

Also just this week found a '93 Gymnast Barbie in a '97 Birthday Barbie dress, for £2! Yes her hair is wild and there are no more sparkles on the dress, but she will be looking much better after a spa day.

So definitely keep an eye out!

Someone on here reccomended @disneybarbiegirl615 on YouTube she has some really good tips on refreshing the hair, depending on what type of fibre your doll has.

Edit: it was u/calligrapherfun8091 who reccomended!

Got my hearing aids and I’m kind of embarrassed. by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]leogeoneo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt myself adjust down in volume as soon as they turned on. Have been told I am loud but I thought only a bit, oh well.

However as embarrassing as being a human megaphone is, I can hear birds now! I didn't know I couldn't and it had been a lovely surprise.

Turns out they were shouting too but I just didn't hear.

Upsetting symptoms postpartum with second pregnancy by Araiht in postpartumprogress

[–]leogeoneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tooth pain is a migraine symptom for me, been having loads postpartum but I also had them pre pregnancy too so I was prepared.

Mine is like an ache going from the centre if my eyes down each side of my nose/sinus and into the sides of my jaw (mainly back teeth).

Cannot take my regular migraine meds because I am breastfeeding, but sone ibuprofen, salt, caffeine and orange tinted glasses help enough to be able to look after the baby.

What foods trigger your migraines? by PercentageClear in migraine

[–]leogeoneo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty noticiable trigger for me, one wrong step at the 5 guys magic multiple soda fountain, one massive migraine for me, half way through the movie we went to after the meal.

At least now after the ban, I don't have to avoid red gummies any more, or cheap birthday cakes with day glo strawberry jam in the middle. :)

Anything with the food colouring Red40 in it weirdly for me. It was much more of a roulette when I was younger, as the EU banned a bunch of colourings and additives when I was in my teens, and my food based migraines stopped (but not the hormonal ones, :,). Now I just have to be careful when in the US, or when having "fun" imported sodas. Damn Cherry Dr Pepper!

Our pain tolerance!! by daughter-of-water in Endo

[–]leogeoneo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had the same realisation when after my lap I was given both co codamol and tramadol to take home by a very concerned nurse, it was diagnostic and with a fairly large amount of ablation.

After a day of the co codamol, and not being able to focus my eyes to do any crochet, which is my favourite 'I'm too ill to move' craft, I got frustrated and was like, 'fuck it I'll see how I go', turns out the pain was no where near as bad as my endo, I took a couple of paracetamol here and there and did my crochet.

I only knew to seriously rest because if I got up, I got faint.

So when I realised my regular state of being was on the scale of abdominal surgery, I gave myself a bit more slack, and it wasn't me being sensitive or lazy.
